Donald E. Nist Sr., age 78 of North Canton, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Massillon Community Hospital following an eight month illness. He was born July 18, 1921, in Massillon and had been a resident of this area all of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a PFC in England, France, Germany and Luxemburg, Belgium. He retired from the Plain Township Garage in 1977, where he had worked as a machine operator for 30 years. He was much loved and will be dearly missed by his surviving family members: three daughters, Mrs. James (Charlotte) Bender, Mrs. Laurence (Carol) Greenho and Mrs. Michael (Pat) Monzione, all of North Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lois Nist Jr. of North Canton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Nist of North Canton and Walter Nist Jr. of Massillon; three sisters, Mary Moore of Canton, Betty Foltz of North Canton and Lucille Newlin of Massillon. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Irene (Uplinger) Nist on Nov. 7, 1976; his parents, Walter and Edna (Geis) Nist Sr.; one sister, Helen Sogorka in 1992. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at Heitger Funeral Service, Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Rd. NW, Jackson Twp., with Pastor David Tebbs officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton. Visitation will be Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mildred A. Swisher, 96, passed away Monday, March 12, 2001, in the Sunset House. She was born March 11, 1905, to Richard and Tillie Adkins in Toledo. She graduated from the Ohio State University with honors, and earned her post-graduate degree in guidance and counseling from Northwestern University with honors. Mildred worked for the Toledo Public Schools for 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo. An avid dancer, she won a Charleston dance competition while attending Ohio State. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Swisher; nieces and nephews, George Adkins, Helen Adkins-Ward, Edwin Adkins, Howard Adkins, Ruth Adkins, Richard Adkins, and Grace Adkins. Mildred is survived by her nephews, Robert (Judith) Adkins, and Mr. and Mrs. David Adkins. Friends are invited to visit from 11-1 p.m. Thursday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue (472-7633), where services will begin immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. Reverend David W.
