The Bathroom Addition
A Journey through Hell
The plumbing rough-in pictures can be seen here.  And, no leaks!  AND it passed inspection!
I finished the bathroom on September 4, 2002!  It's on my sister's page, please check it out:
We decided to take on the incredible job of turning the small 11x 5' room next to our master bedroom into a master bathroom.  This will require new plumbing and electrical.  We will install a new toilet, pedestal sink and two-person jacuzzi tub.  I have already taken care of the electrical and have installed the wall light.  The first project was the nightmare of installing the medicine cabinet, which entailed utting into the plaster wall and removing part of a stud in order to get it all to fit correctly.  I might have complained a lot (mostly to myself), but I spent over a week doing the work (lots of time on weekends) and got the job done.
The pictures below show the work as it progressed.
The Unsuspecting Wall.  Notice I've already installed outlets and the light.  I haven't removed the wallpaper yet.  The medicine cabinet will go between the outlets, and the new sink will someday go beneath the cabinet.
This is after making the cuts into the wall and after removing the stud.  The missing plaster areas around the hole will be replaced by sections of drywall.
Pay no attention to that man in the miror!  This is the current state of the wall.  We painted the walls light purple.  The walls surrounding the tub area will be of tileboard.
And, there it is.  The picture can no way pick up on all the minute details and imperfections, but what I had to do was knock away all the loose plaster around the main hole and replace it with drywall, then take plaster patch and marry it to the drywall and sand it all a lot.  In the end, it turned out pretty well.
