The Bathroom Plumbing |

I'm not a plumber, nor am I an electrician. I don't even play either on TV. But I do know enough of the basics of each to do the jobs correctly, and anything I don't know I ask a professional plumbing inspector, research the situation on the net, or any of the above.
My father helped me plan the plumbing, and he and I laid the main plumbing into the floor. I pretty much did the rest myself. He also helped me finish the plumbing in the bathroom and the basement.
If you plan to add a new bathroom to your old house, There's a whole lot of work you'll have to do. I had to remove a lot of plaster from the walls and remove a section of floor to run plumbing.
My plumbing installation passed the plumbers inspection, after which I put the floor back together and insulated all open walls. My father helped me drywall after that.

The bathroom. Over on the left is the sink. The right corner you see the vent pipe going to the roof. It makes the bend in the corner, and at the extreme right the pipe goes down to vent the toilet. You can also see the copper pipes laid in the floor. If the floor looks odd, it's because I removed a section of floorboards to admit the plumbing. |

This shot is at the sink. You can see the copper pipes and PVC. The copper pipes are a little crooked, but everything held water when I tested it. Everything. We tested the PVC by plugging all the open ends and filling the entire new system with water from the hose into the new roof vent. It held. Not bad for an amateur. |
