40 | Comments | Original dyno spec 156 BHP@6,000 RPM (torque 148 ft. lbs. at 5,250 RPM); upgrades in carbs (from 44 IDF to 48IDF) and ignition (from points/condenser to Petronix and CD) since have probably improved BHP to 165/170. Lots of low end torque, idles smoothly at 900 RPM, pulls very strong to 5,000 RPM (not yet broken in) and made power to 7,000 RPM on the dyno. Accelleration is excellent with the close ratio 901 5-speed. Gas mileage around 20 mpg with current jetting. Welded/balanced Berg fan will allow switching to Porsche 356 generator/alternator pulley (and shorter fan belt) for higher fan output at lower RPM if necessary during summer months. Berg pressure relief oil pump cover to full-flow, spin-on oil-filter. Engine has all stock tin with operative thermostat and flaps. |
