(8/27)- Paradis Wins Championship! Completes Perfect Season!

Congratulations to Marc Paradis the 2004 Enfield Tennis League Champion of this successful inaugural season. Marc Paradis took on Brian DaSilva for the Doc Celio Cup. Paradis came out strong in the first set winning 6-0 and continuing his streak to 4 straight sets bageling his opponent. DaSilva came out harder in the second finally winning his first game of the match ruining Paradises streak to make 3-1. Paradis wasn't startled and continued his dominating ways finishing out the set 6-2. DaSilva did salvage an ace in that set. The third and final set of the championship match was a bit closer as DaSilva brought it as close as 3-2 and 4-3, before Paradis finished it off with a solid winner down the far side winning the Doc Celio Cup 6-0 6-2 6-3. Paradis has one 47 straight sets without losing a single one this entire season. The only thing you can say that was not perfect about Marc's season is the fact that he actually lost games in some sets. The closest anyone got to taking Paradis to an extra set was Mullin, DaSilva and Strayer bringing him to 7-5. Congratulations to Marc Paradis on his championship season, and we'll see how long the dynasty lasts in ETL 2005. Check the picture and video section for media of the Championship match.

(8/26)- DaSilva defeats Strayer. Taken on Paradis in Championship

Brian DaSilva will meet the undefeated Marc Paradis in the Championship match of this 2004 season. The Battle for the bobblehead "Doc Celio" Trophy will be Friday, August 27th. Marc Paradis has not lost a set this entire season, and has a streak of 3 sets without losing a game. DaSilva's only losses this season are in the hands of Paradis, losing the first set 6-0 after 6 straight duece points, then losing the next 3 sets to him 6-4 everytime. It should be the closest match yet in out race for the cup. Now for how he got there... DaSilva faces Georgetti in his first playoff match. Unfortunately Georgetti was very sore and hurt from continuous soccer practices and couldnt put up a big fight. DaSilva won in straight sets 6-2 6-2 6-2. His semi-final opponent was Ryan Strayer. DaSilva was just a sniper with his new racquet and couldnt miss the corners. DaSilva won the first set 6-3 after a few breaks and then bageled Strayer 6-0. DaSilva lost steam in the third set as Strayer tried to pounce on the opportunity by gaining momentum. DaSilva wouldnt let Strayer win any of his set winning games and then defeated him in the third set tiebreaker 8-6. It could have been a whole different match had it gone into extra sets, but the ferocious DaSilva didnt let it happen as smacked any ball on his side of the court back winning the match 6-3 6-0 7-6(8-6). Now onto the championship.

(8/25)- Perfect Paradis Rolls Into Championship

Marc Paradis rolls his way into the Championship match of this 2004 ETL season after winning 36 of his 41 games played so far in the playoffs. He is tied for the lead in playoff aces and has a 3 set bagel streak going into the final match of the season. His first match of the playoffs, the Quarter-Finals was against Jim Casey, who the day before beat Ruban Andino in a 4 setter, 6-4 5-7 6-4 6-3. Casey out- matched and out-aced Andino 4-2. The quarters was a different story. Paradis started off with a bang winning the first set 6-0. Jimmy got his bearings back only to win 5 more games in the rest of the matc 6-2 6-3. Paradis had 5 aces to Caseys none. On to the semi-final event against Kalen Obregon, the four seed. What was a highly anticepated match, ended quickly as Paradis ferociously defeated Obregon 6-0 6-0 6-0 having a perfect match and an unbelievable 3 set bagel. Certainly a record that will be hard to beat and in the playoffs no doubt. Obregon does earn second placein Club Break with two broken racquets after that match. The undefeated, "perfect" Paradis is going into the final and championship match of this ETL 2004 season with a 25 match winning streak and a 3 set bagel streak. Can he handle the pressure? We will soon find out his opponent when DaSilva and Georgetti play their Quarter Final match and the winner takes on Strayer to find out which man will take on the burden of facing this dominating force in the Enfield Tennis League.

(8/22)- Obregon Strayer and Georgetti Win First Playoff Matches

Obregon faces Mullin in the first match played in the 2004 ETL Playoffs. It was the 4 vs 5 match. Kalen had the only break in the first set to win 6-4 and rolled on from there 6-2 6-1 with a personal high of 2 aces in the match. Strayer clashed with Placzek in the 3 vs 6 match. First set was won easily by Strayer 6-1, but the second went the distance as Placzek had many chances to win, but Strayer prevailed in the tiebreaker 8-6. Third set went in Placzeks direction as he broke Strayer to win 6-4, but the 4th set was all Strayer as he achieved his all-time high of 7 aces in the match to defeat Placzek 6-1. Earlier in the day, after a dreadfully long holdout, Kapchus finally played Calabrese in the qualifying match and won 6-2 6-4. That night, Kapchus took on Georgetti. Georgetti won the first set easily 6-1. Kapchus rolls back to win the second 6-3. But Georgetti with his 6 aces was too much as he went on to win the next two sets and the match 6-1 and 6-3.

(8/07)- Mullin Wins 4 of 5. Sneaks Into 5th Place

Mullin was on a roll after his comeback from his shoulder injury. Sweeping past Kapchus and Placzek on his comeback day in two prosets 8-0 ands 8-4. Mullin came back August 4th to play Placzek in a full set match and earned the win easily 6-3 6-1. A couple days later Mullin finished his match with Georgetti that they had started at an earlier date before Mullins racquet broke on a volley. Match started with a 4-4 score. Mullin won the first game in an extremely long duece game, followed by a quick Georgetti win to make it 5-5. Mullin rolled on from there to win the proset 8-5. Quickly after that match was over, Mullin played his final match of the season again Obregon, but Kalen cooled down Mark as ge was victorious 6-4 6-2 in a close match of brakes. With those wins plus some forfeit wins, Mullin moves into the 5th place position to most likely face Obregon again in the second round. In other matches around the league, Strayer finishes his season with a win against Obregon 7-5 2-6 6-1. A long 3 set match that was continued from a previous rain delay. Obregon also played Ruban Andino in a proset and won easily 8-3. The final match played on August 6th was DaSilca vs Georgetti, DaSilvas quick pace was too much as he went on to win 6-0 6-2.
