Otherwise known as the map project. Just as the Battle School alumni go globe-hopping while leaving a trail of superb military strategy and political upheaval in their wake, we spin out our own threads of speculation about the direction of world politics in an era of change.
Maps appear at the right of the Simulator, with a list of the possible threads at the left. (See below for an explanation of the threads.) Currently, the Simulator holds political maps for every major land region and nation. In the future, additional maps will show physical landmarks, topography, location of resources, and other information important to understanding the complex international relations that govern the world situation. Maps are intended to provide the spatial context to the threads. You can zoom into a particular region by clicking on the link embedded within the map. For example, to move from the world map to the Asia map, click on the word Asia on the world map. To zoom out, click on the up arrow located at the bottom of the map. Currently, all maps are images taken from Encyclopedia Britannica 1999 (CD-ROM version), revised to suit the purposes of this Simulator. Do not take them, as they do not belong to us.
Threads appear at the left of the Simulator. Each thread begins with an opening scenario: basic information on the political, social and economic situation of each continent, each region and each country. The opening scenario is followed up by predictions, both narrow and wide, of the future dynamics of international relations, which are posted and discussed by members of the Jeesh on the message board (for more information, go see the Ender Cult). If a certain prediction proves to have interesting ramifications, it may be expanded to become another scenario, followed by new predictions. The main points of the message board discussions are summed up and displayed here on the Simulator. If you are not a member of the Jeesh, you are welcome to participate in the discussion indirectly by clicking on the link at the bottom of the Simulator. Your comments will be posted up on the message board, and eventually, on the Simulator itself. |
