Read weekly columns by Demosthenes and Locke on the nets! After all, you just might want to take over the world after graduating from Command School, so why not learn from the best? Our open forum for any and all adolescent megalomaniacs.
The essays below are analyses of the current political, social and economic situation of the real-life universe. Yes, there is a real-life universe; the one in which the Buggers havent yet invaded Earth and the Warsaw Pact is still a long-gone artifact of the Cold War. Unfortunately, we do live in the 21st century of the Common Era, and if we truly wish to emulate the example of Locke and Demosthenes, we must be able to critically study the international situation today. Demagoguery and enlightened opinions are both accepted. (Note: Please notice the word international. We do not believe in discussing the purely domestic issues of a single nation, no matter how important or powerful it may be.)
The essays below are analyses of the political, social and economic situation in any point in the timeline of the Ender universe. Whether you decide to write a mock criticism of the legislative structure of the Starways Congress or discuss the ramifications of world alignments on Earth after Achilles manipulations, there is always enough depth to the Ender series so that you can write a serious and rational essay, as if you yourself were a scholar in the Ender universe. What is missing from the narrative of the text can be more than made up for by the imagination. The more daring can even try to write scientific papers on the biology of the known alien species!
The essays below are reconstructed texts of books known to belong to the Ender universe. This ranks among the more insane pursuits of the Jeesh, but it is an interesting idea. Weve all read excerpts from The Hive Queen and the Hegemon, The Life of Human and various works by Demosthenes, but weve never imagined what the whole versions might be like. It may be hubris to the highest degree to try to actually write the books for which the Speaker for the Dead became legendary, but it is also the best praise that we can think of: to complete the Ender universe beyond the books themselves and extend it into reality. |
