| Part 6 *********************** Morning Roswells streets Alright. My engagement party is tomorrow night. So we have a lot to do. We have to buy more drinks, check if the canaps were properly delivered, then I have Isabel speech goes on. Maria and Liz pay attention to her nodding at her very word. They know if something goes wrong the Ice Queen will not forgive them. Max and Michael are right behind the girls. Max is very happy to see Isabel's enthusiasm. Its been a week since the crashdown incident happened. He was so relieved when Michael brought her back home safe that day that he automatically accepted her apolgoies and apologized himself, too. Now he spent all his days listening to her planning her wedding, and as boring as it should have beem, he actually likes it. She seems really happy and they are actually talking again, not like they used to, but he can feel that their bond is growing again. Michael, however, isn't that happy at all, and Max knows it. This whole wedding planning thing and MichaelWell, they just dont match. To tell the truth Michael has already come up with another nickname for Isabel, The Wedding Nazi. I really dont see why we have to be here, Michael complains. Max chuckles. Come on, Michael. You're the one that said that you would spend 24 hours a day with her if it would make her happy. Yeah, right. 24 hours with her, not with the Wedding Nazi. ShhIf she hears you, she'll kill you. Great. Seems like a good away to escape from all this fuzzy stuff. This is a girl's thing to do, Maxwell, not for us. Relax, Michael. Look at her. She's happy and smiling and that's all that matters. Besides we are not here just because of the wedding plansIm worried about her, Michael. Who isnt? She making the biggest mistake of her life. Max looks at Michael puzzled. I thought that we had agreed about her marriage. Yes. We agreed. But that doesnt mean that I have to like it. I still think this is all a big mistake. Max grins. It's not that Im not worried about her getting married either. I am. A lot. I still haven't been able to have a real talk with Jesse. He's always with her or my parents. But Im working on it, okay? Anyway, that's not the reason Im worried about her right nowIts just that something happened last night What? Michael yells without noticing. Isabel, Maria and Liz turn to watch whats going on. Is there a problem, Max? Liz asks. Umm. No. Im just here telling Michael how much the wedding will cost. Oh, that much? Liz asks. Yeah. That much, Max replies. Isabel looks at the two guys carefully. Their fake smiles dont fool her. But she knows better than to ask. Okay, you two. I have to try some dresses on for the wedding now. You dont have to stay if you dont want to. Michael is about to say something and leave, but Max pokes him. Ouch! What? He glares at Max and then catches on to the message. Oh, yeah. We would love to stay, Iz. If you say so Isabel goes into the shop, followed by Maria and Liz. Before Michael follows them into the shop, he glares one more time at Max. You are going to pay for this, Maxwell, he says annoyed. Max only shrugs and goes into the shop too. ***************** Oh. This is wonderful, Isabel. I think that you should try this, and this, and that one too, Maria says excited. Yeah. And all the others if I let you choose, Isabel retorts. What about that one? Liz shows her another dress. I dont know Michael? Max? The two hybrids stare at each other, then at Isabel with a funny and lost expression. Just forget that I asked. Ill try this one. Thank you, Liz. The three girls go to try the dress, leaving Michael and Max alone in the waiting room. Now that they're gone, you're going to tell me what happened to Isabel, Michael demands. Max sighs and sits on the sofa in the corner of the room. Michael does the same. Last night, Isabel had a dream. Not a very good one. She was screaming in her dream and didnt want to wake up. When she did, she was shaking to her bones, and there was such fear in her eyes that I got scared myself." What was the dream about? No answer. Max? Whats the dream about? Michael inquires again. About us. She said that he is here. Here to kill us. You and me, Michael. She said that we should leave Roswell and run because he is here. Michael is perplexed. Who is here, Max? She said that she didnt know. I guess it's Khivar. I know its only a dream, but you know Isabels dreams. Theres always some truth in them. And also the fear in her eyesit was so real I knew this was going to happen. I told you. They wont just forget us here. That man, on the day I got the diamond. He wasnt kidding. It was a stupid idea thinking that just because we chose to stay on earth, our lives would be normal. I see that now. Do you think that they are trying to stop me from getting my son back? Maybe. But maybe its more than that. Maybe they still fear us for some reason. Maybe we have some power that we dont know about. "But in the book it's written that That book didnt say anything. Its just bullshit. History. Its just a military history and a lecture about how we were recreated and how to go home to save them. History and biology. The book is a sci-fi book. A very bad one. Its the only thing we have right now. But maybe we skipped some important part, the language in the book is so complicated that maybe Okay. Ready, guys? Here she goes, Maria and Liz announce, making the two friends stop their conversation immediately. Isabel enters the room. She looks gorgeous. The white silk dress fits her perfectly. Its like it was made for her. She spins in front of the two most precious people on this world to her and ask what they think. But for Michael, she spins in slow motion. ################ She is still spinning with such grace and beauty that everybody stares at her, but her hair is different, its blond and long again. She seems like an angel, dancing in the middle of the sumptuous ballroom with Max. Wait. It isnt Isabel and Max. Its Vilandra and Zan. A huge party is taking place at the Royal Antar Palace. And the ballrooms are completely full. But she doesnt seem to notice all of that. She doesnt want to know that all eyes are staring at her. She just dances in the arms of her beloved brother. Smiling softly, she illuminates the entire place. When the music comes to an end, the Princess Vilandra thanks his brother and then she runs to embrace her mother and respectfully bows in front of her father who kisses her forehead and nods. *********** Zan is in the gardens with lady Ava. Hey! Zan! someone whispers. Zan is startled. Rath? What are doing here? Are you crazy? If someone see you here, you are dead. Umm. Hi, Ava. He waves. Hi, Rath. Ava smiles. I couldnt miss her birthday, could I? Rath chuckles. Im serious, Rath. How did you get here? This is a party for the nobility only. I came through our secret passage. As always. Whats the problem, Zan? I thought you would be happy. Suddenly, Im not worthy of your friendship anymore? Im just an insignificant soldier, is that it? You know thats not true, Rath. You are my best friend. But it just cant be. Its dangerous for you, for me, for her. Maybe someday things will change. When I become King Yeah. Yeah. I know. Maybe somedayIts just that I need to see her Rath frowns. Zan smiles sadly at her friend. Ava holds his hand and stares at Zan Let him come. She will be so happy if he is there. Alright, Rath. But you have to promise me that you are not trying to do something stupid. Never. I swear on the Granoliths Power. Rath grins. ************** She is so beautiful Rath wonders. He stares at her intensely. Vilandra is surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting and for a bunch of Lords and Princes. Do you think I could talk to her? You know you cant. All the attention in this room is on her. If you go near her you will be noticed. I saw her dancing with you from outside. She looked like an angel. I just wish it was me, you know, the one to hold that angel. Zan taps Rath shoulder. I know. Rath smiles sadly while he keeps gazing at his untouched angel. Then he frowns. Who is that guy? What guy? Zan asks curious. The one beside Larek, Rath replies coldly. Oh, thats Lord Khivar. From the south of Antar. Why? KhivarI dont like him. He keeps looking at her Zan laughs. If you stop to notice better, everybody is looking at her. Not just because she is the Princess of Antar, but she is also the most beautiful creature that has ever existed on the five planets. No, theres something different about him. He looks at her like she is his. There is something malicious in his eyes. You worry too much, Rath. Rath glares at Khivar. When he sees that Khivar is actually asking Vilandra to dance, he explodes. Oh, no. You are not going to touch her. And he runs towards them. Rath. No. Wait. What are you doing? Zan tries to stop him but its too late. May I have the pleas.. Khivar was saying May I have the pleasure of this dance, Princess? Rath cuts him off, appearing in front of him. Vilandra's eyes widen in shock. But it takes just a second for them to soften. She smiles at Rath. It would be my pleasure, sir, she replies, giving him her hand, which he takes in his and kisses softly. Then he takes her to the middle of the ballroom with everybody gazing at them. And they start to dance. No, they dont dance. They float in the air. Rath keeps repeating to himself that this isnt a dream. That its real. This time it's real. She is not dreamwalking him, he can feel her. He can inhale her scent of flowers. His angel is with him. Now and forever. They are both so lost in each other that they never notice how Khivar glares at them with hate in his eyes. ############## Michael comes back to reality. Come on, Michael. You're the only one that hasnt said anything. So, what do you think? Its nice. He pretends that he doesnt care, actually doing a good job at it. Nice? Thats all you have to say Isabel is about to complain but she is cut off by Kyle, who comes running. Max. Michael. Oh, Thank Buddha I found youHey, nice dress, Isabel. Isabel glares at him. Whats the problem, Kyle? Maria asks. My father called me. He's in the desert. And he's not alone. What are you talking about? Liz asks. Theres this huge, and I mean really huge, hole in the middle of the desert. And there are all these people there. Police, journalists, scientists, tourists and people that are swearing that they saw a big ball of fire in the sky last night. But is there something there? Something alien? Michael asks nervously. No, nothing, apparently, Kyle replies. We have to go there, Max, Michael says anxiously. Wait, Michael. If this is something alien we have Max ponders. No, Max, we cant wait. Who knows, maybe this can help us find your son. Or maybe this can take you directly to the hands of our enemies, Isabel worries. Although she can barely remember her dream from last night, she knows what she felt and she doesnt want to feel it in real life. Isabel. We have to go, Max claims. I know, Max, she sighs, glancing at Michael who is avoiding eye contact. Just be careful. Both of you. Please. "We will. I promise. He kisses and hugs her. Keep this one, Max refers to the dress she is wearing. You are beautiful Thanks. She stares at him. Lets go, Max, Michael yells. We're coming with you. Liz and Maria run after them. Kyle is left behind with Isabel. Nice dress, Kyle says. Yeah. I know. You already told me. Iz frowns. They'll be okay, Kyle reassures her. Yeah. They will Isabel and Kyle never notice the guy wearing jeans and a black t-shirt spying on them through the store window. |
