Part 5

******************************

He is in the desert.

He looks around carefully, searching for something. But what? He cant remember He knows that it is important, he knows that he needs to find it, that he cant live without it, but he just cant remember.

He feels so lost. Something is burning inside him. Its hard to breath; its hard to think. His heart is beating fast, so fast. He can barely stand the pain. Why does it hurt like this? Why? He wants it to stop, to go away. But it doesnt. It never goes away.

                            ************************

Michael bolts up sweating and out of breath, waking up Maria who had been sleeping peacefully at his side.

What? What is it, Michael? Are you Ok? Maria asks concerned.

Michael winces when she touches his arm, standing up quickly. For some reason her touch feels so cold.

Michael? Whats the problem?

Um. Nothing, Maria. You can go back to sleep. Im O.K.

Are you sure? Maria yawns.

Well, I Michael hesitates, not sure if he should share about the dream with her.

Ok  then. Just dont stay awake all night. Maria rolls over on the bed and immediately goes back to sleep.

Michael frowns. He then turns to the window and gazes out at the night. The dream is the least of his problems. He's had it for such a long time that he has already gotten used to it. But he has other things to worry about. The flashes. The flashes that he had about him and Isabel... no, about Rath and Vilandra, a week ago.

Those scenes haunt him. Playing in his mind over and over again. He doesnt understand exactly what he saw. Its all so confusing. However, all those feelings, all those emotions, they seemed so real or maybe more than that if thats possible.

The air around him seems to become heavy and his heart aches just remembering, just remembering all the sorrow all the pain whenwhen he lost her. Yes, he lost her. One moment he was there with her, Isabel, and she was promising that he would never lose her. And in the next moment he lost her. Not exactly her..buther. It was soso How could this have happened? How could he have let this happen? In the past or in the future It doesnt matter. What matters is that he lost her, and he cant let this happen again. She isshe is Pay attention to what you're thinking, Michael Guerin. What is she to you? She is No. No. And no. She is Iz, your friend, your best friend, your family. Forget the past. A past that you dont understand, a past that you dont even know is true. Maybe these visions are just a trick. A trick because of some new alignment of the stars. Like the other ones. Oh, no, Mr. Guerin. Dont go there. Dont you ever think about those dreams again. Ever. Its all a lie, remember. No cliffs, no son, no happiness. Damn. I thought that I told you to not remember. Forget. Forget. Forget. For all we know Isabel--I mean Vilandra--betrayed us for that stupid Khivar. Says who? Nicholas. Not a good source, I suppose. But that doesnt matter, shewe are not them. We have another life. You are happy here on earth with Maria and sheshe is going to marry Jesse. Good. You do want her to be happy, right? Right. Keep telling yourself that, Guerin, maybe someday you'll actually start to believe it

**********************

Flying across the sky, theres a huge ball of fire. Whatever it is, it's coming close, close, closer

A big explosion occurs. A huge hole opens in the middle of the desert and inside it is a strange spherical object emanating energy. Pulsating, like its alive.

Suddenly, it stops. No more energy, no more pulsation. Just silence. A gap appears in the middle of the object and someone comes out through it.

His deep brown eyes hide secrets and danger, but theres something more in them; its a gleam, a warm gleam. His messy blond hair swings with the wind. He definitely needs a haircut. Or maybe not, theres some charm in it, and it looks great on him. Actually, he reminds me of someone. Who?

He looks around and grins. Home sweet home. His voice echoes through the desert. He starts to walk calmly to nowhere. The red cape he is wearing flutters with the wind. All of sudden, the warrior's outfit he is wearing changes into some old jeans and a black t-shirt.

The sphere explodes. He keeps walking without looking back, not even once.

*********************

NOOOOO! Isabel is screaming in her dreams. She is stirring and moaning.

Max comes like  lightning through her door.

Isabel. Isabel. Wake up. Please, Iz. Are you listening to me?

Isabel bolts up abruptly. Max holds her in his arms. She shivers, afraid. And Max can feel all that. He rocks her like a child. She begins to cry.

Oh, Max

ShhIts Ok, Iz. Im here.

No Max, its not okay, she whispers through her tears. I can feel it, Max. Something really bad is about to happen. Its not over yet. He is coming to destroy us.

Who? Khivar?

I dont know. But he is here. You have to run, Max. You have to leave Roswell. He's going to kill youand Michaeland he

Shh Its just a bad dream, Iz. No one is going to be killed. No one is going to run. All our enemies are long gone. Without the Granolith, they dont have any reason to come after us. We are powerless against them. There have been no more attacks from the skins or news about the dupes. Roswell is our home now, and thats it.

We are still the Royal ones, Max. I dont think that they will just forget about us. And what about your son, Max?

Max frowns. Im going to find a way to go to him and bring him home, bring him to Roswell.

Isabel nods sadly. She wont argue about this again, not now. She is tired, so tired. All that fear that she could feel a minute ago is slowly disappearing disappearinguntil she falls asleep again.

********************

She is having the same dream. Again.

She is lost. She is alone.

The desert. The disappearing symbols. The wind. The emptiness, the sorrow, the pain, the hole in her soul.

Its all the same untiluntil she hears something new but at the same time familiar.

Mommy a child cries out.
