If Only This Could Be

If I were a mermaid, like I've always

dreamt to be.

I can have the best of both worlds.

I could be free, to walk this great big

land.

I could be free, to live in the sea.

I would live and play, with the creatures

of the sea.

No one here, to bother me.

I could rest upon a rock in the bay,

and let the moon light bathe me.

While the dolphins serenade me.

I could brush my hair, lying back as

the stars surrounded me with their

beauty.

When the night is done, I would go

back to the sea.

If only this could be.

In my state of mind, during slumber time.

Anything can take place in my dreams as

long as I believe.

I would swim beneath the sea, and have

so many follow me.

All creatures great and small, would

befriend me.

My eyes would light their darkness.

My smile would warm their hearts.

My Love would fill their emptiness.

Sun rays twinkling in, would be like heaven

descending in our world.

If only this could be. I would be so happy.
