Ring o' Fire

In front of the Ring of Fire was a smaller ride that doesn't appear on the park map and wasn't open the day we visited. It is made up of four large trampolines. Basically, I think they rope you to the large yellow sails, so you don't fall off, then you're allowed to jump and backflip as much as you like without falling and getting hurt.

The Konga River Run

We stopped at the restrooms on our way to the Haunted House and noticed a cart near the front of the park that was open and selling Fright Fest merchandise. We wanted to check it out, but decided to do that on our way out of the park. When we came back that way after visiting the Haunted House (about 45 minutes later) it was closed! The park was still open for four more hours!

One of the tackiest Fright Fest "scares" we found wandering the park was a passed out drunk dummy in the bushes near the entrance to the Haunted House. Classy. I couldn't bring myself to photograph it.

Entrance to the Haunted House

The Haunted House was the only wait we had all day, which wasn't too bad! :) Unfortunately, it started pouring as we got in line. For some reason, the line is not under cover either. I'm thinking Six Flags can spring for a tarp to cover the queue.. I'll even drive them to G.I. Joe's to pick one up.

We stood in line for about 25 minutes, getting completely soaked. In that time, we saw several people being turned away from the house because they didn't have tickets to get in. Now whose fault is that? Not theirs!! No one told them they had to have a ticket! We wouldn't have had tickets unless we'd gone back to the entrance that afternoon and asked about it! Either they need to be completely on top of handing out tickets to each and every patron who comes through the turnstiles, or they should not require tickets. Turning away people who had stood in the rain for over twenty minutes is a joke.

We got to the front of the line, handed over our tickets and were sent in with a group of about 8 other people. Being at the back of the group was kind of a let down because they would crowd into the room ahead of us, get scared, and we'd still be stuck in the hallway. By the time we entered the room, the actors were already "re-setting" themselves for the next group. :( They should have sent smaller groups through at a time. When we realized what the problem was, we held back from the group and came in separately, giving the actors time to reset themselves for us.

The first room was neat, but too familiar. We walked in to find a dead groom popping out of his coffin, and his lovely zombie bride arose from her chair to greet our group. If the "dead bride" thing wasn't close enough, there were actual copies of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion portraits on the wall. Too funny..

One room had a tall skinny dead gal with a glowing red mouth. She kept following me around the room! Eek!

They had quite a few rooms with hydraulic dummies that jumped out at you when you entered.

One hallway looked like a burnt out building and there was a guy sitting in a chair who would jump up and yell boo! Another hallway was covered in huge spiders and the black lights flashed on and off revealing their gross little glowing bodies. The last hallwaay in the house was this creepy double row of mummies on both sides of the walkway. They were tilted downward and I kept expecting one to lunge out at me.

We entered one room with the group where a burlap bag lay against the wall. Everyone screamed when it got up and jumped at us.

My favorite room of all was very simple. It was solid black with little neon glowing stars everywhere. Innocent enough, right.. Well, all of a sudden, a patch of the stars lunges at me with a high pitched shriek!! She screamed her head off and I screamed and laughed. That was totally unexpected and fun. :) I saw her re-setting herself as we left the room, and in the dark, I could see a little grin on her face too. Hehe. :)

Farther along in the house, we caught up with the group as they were hugging one of the actors in the attraction!

Ghostly Dead Girl to friends: OMG! You came! Its so good to see you guys!! (hugs) How are you? Oh ok, yeah, I'll see you later! ..I mean.. I'LL PEEL YOU LIKE A GRAPE!! MUA HA HA HAHHAHA!!

They also knew the guy at the end with the chainsaw. He was presiding over a "Meat Market" of sawed off limbs and decapitated heads. I'm always afraid of the those haunted house chainsaw guys, but after watching him hug his friends, he didn't seem too intimidating. Hehe..

The Haunted House ended up being really fun and just the right amount of scary. I was truly freaked out, but not terrified. I had a great time. Laughed, screamed, felt my heart racing as we left. It was just the right amount of Fright for my Fright Fest. :)
