The Cameraman

1
When acclaiming our modern
heroes, let's not forget The
News Reel Cameraman .... the
daredevil who defies death
to give us pictures of the
    world's happenings.

2
And there are other types
   of photographers.

3
"Take your tintype, Mister?
They make fine ash-trays!"

4
"I make them look just
   like you, Miss."

5
"Do you know who
    that is?"

6
"Maybe it's Lydia
    Pinkham."

7
"Do you know her?"

8
"What are you doin' ....
givin' me a sleigh-ride?"

9
"No charge. It's a
     present."

10
"I'd like to have you sit
for another portrait ....
   when you get off."

11
"I won't be through
 for three hours."

12
"I'll wait."

13
"I'm a photographer.
Could I get a job
      here?"

14
"Get a job here .... with
  that cocktail shaker?"

15
"You'll have to buy your
   own camera before
they'll give you a trial
         here."

16
"Don't close up! I'll be
       right back!"

17
"What are you doing
       here?"

18
"None of your business!
I'm waiting to see the
        boss!"

19
"Well .... I'm the boss!"

20
"Well .... make me an
        offer."

21
"The Grand Central
 Warehouse is on
      fire!"

22
"You ought to go
photograph the fire,
       too!"

23
"They'll buy any good film
... so photograph anything
   that's interesting."

24
"It's your chance to
      break in!"

25
"I'll bust in all right!
       Watch me!"

26
"Where's the fire?"

27
"Up there there's a fire
 down here, they said."

28
"In which house?"

29
"No! It's not in a
which house .... it's in
   a warehouse!"

30
"Now .... where is it?"

31
"Where's what?"

32
Where's the which house?
I mean .... which's the
      warehouse?"

33
"Which warehouse ....
      where?"

34
Within an hour he was
photographing everything
from soup to nuts ....
   mostly the nuts.

35
"Aren't the Yankees
  playing today?"

36
"Sure... in St. Louis!"

37
"Don't be discouraged.
No one would ever
amount to anything
if he didn't try."

38
"You must always
grind forward ....
 never backward."

39
"I'll make good next
        time!"

40
"Tomorrow's Sunday.
Maybe you'll let me
take you for a nice
    long walk."

41
"I'm sorry .... I have a
sort of date. But give
me your phone number ...
   I may call you."

42
"I'll be waiting."

43
From the peep of
dawn on Sunday
   morning -

44
"My date's off, and -"

45
"I'm sorry if I'm a
    little late."

46
"This is the young man
who is to take Sally
      walking."

47
"This is my dressing
       room!"

48
"Shut up .... or it'll be
      your coffin!"

49
"Will you keep out of
   my undershirt?"

50
"Hey! What is this, a
 suit .... or a bib?"

51
"The Big Sea Lion!"

52
"I'll show you some
real fancy diving!"

53
"Let's get out of here
  and go walking on
     the beach."

54
"Help! I've been
     robbed!"

55
"Hello, Sally! Come
on .... I'll drive you
       home."

56
"But we couldn't have him
in here with us! There's
 never room for three."

57
"I'm a little damp....
  so I'll go home."

58
"I'm sorry you got
      so wet."

59
"It was worth it .... to
      be near you."

60
"Where do you live and
  where do you work?"

61
"Did you ever find that
flame you were looking
          for?"

62
"Oh .... she's so beautiful!"

63
"I'll try your reflexes to
   see if you're goofy."

64
Monday morning.

65
"There'll be nothin' for
      you! Beat it!"

66
"Randall talking. This
Chinese celebration
may be interesting.
 Send a man down."

67
"Chinatown is celebrating
a holiday. It may be
worth taking. Go on
        down."

68
"I'll make good this
    time, Sally."

69
"Now, see! You kill-a
       de monk!"

70
"Pay him for that
baboon .... or I'll run
      you in!"

71
"It's yours ... you bought
it! Get it out of the
          way!"

72
"If the Wung Fa Tong
starts anything .... you
  know what to do!"

73
"I took the whole
   blamed war!"

74
"I got some great
pictures of that Tong
  War all right!"

75
"Pretty short war!"

76
"I guess I forgot to put
  film in the camera."

77
"Say .... how did you
  get wise to that
     Tong War?"

78
"Miss Sally told me."

79
"Did you give him the
  tip, young lady?"

80
"It's all your fault that
   this fool has been
  hanging around here!"

81
"Don't leave because of
me. I'll never bother
 any of you again."

82
Tuesday morning -
   The Westport Yacht
   Club Regatta.

83
"Did you change this film
   box in Chinatown?"

84
"Look out you don't
get thrown out when
I make this turn."

85
"You're awfully brave
 to have saved me."

86
"What else could a
    fellow do?"

87
Wednesday morning.

88
"That little cameraman
left this film here. He
said you can have it
    for nothing."

89
"It's the Tong War!"

90
"That's the best camera
work I've seen in years!"

91
"Get that man here
      quick!"

92
"I'll never be able to
  thank you enough."

93
"Everybody's talking
about you! They're all
waiting to give you a
  great reception!"
