Since I saw this movie today it reminded me again what a great film that it is; so I decided that it
would be the first one that I would write about.
This is one of my favorite Bette Davis films. She plays "Judith Traherne a wealthy socialite who is diagnosed by Dr. Frederick Steele(played by George Brent) as having a brain tumor. They fall in love and have ups and downs. As she becomes aware that her eyesight is failing and that she will be dying soon she sends Dr. Steele on his trip to New York without her so that she can die alone. Humphrey Bogart does sound funny trying to speak with an Irish accent. The first time I saw this film I rolled laughing at him. Other than that the film is great. This is one of Ronald Reagans better performances even though it's a small part.
This is such a great film. Joan Crawford at her best playing Louise Howell a dazed woman who walks the streets of Los Angeles looking for a man named David. She collapses in a diner, and is taken to the psychiatric hospital and in a series of flashbacks she reveals her obsession for David and her schizophrenic behavior which ultimately led to murder. The supporting cast is top of the line. Van Heflin plays David Sutton the man that Joan falls in love with. Raymond Massey plays Dean Graham the wealthy man that Joan marries after the death of his wife. Raymond Massey is so good in his role as the husband who stands by his wife no matter what. This is the film that made me really appreciate his acting abilities. He is a very under-rated
