emo: sad lyrics, generally acoustic [dashboard confessional, the get up kids]
emocore: same as emo, but with a bit more spunk [brand new, jimmy eat world]
hardcore emo: heavy metal with sad melodic lyrics [avenged sevenfold, from first to last]
screamo: same as hardcore emo!
punk-pop emo: wtf is this... oh yeah... simple plan with sad lyrics [fall out boy, we are scientists]
post-emo: kinda emo but not (how else could you explain this?) [alkaline trio]
