Minerals
These pages include minerals collected during our summer vacations in Canada.
Most of them come from Bancroft, Ontario. The region around Bancroft
is a goldmine (pardon the pun) for amateur rockhounds. Not only is
the area world famous for it's unique geologic features, but the local
Chamber of Commerce publishes a guidebook describing the location, geology,
minerals present , and editorial comments for over twenty public access
and commercial collecting sites around town. Many of the sites are roadcuts.
All are fairly easily accessible by car. The identifications are
our own, and any corrections and comments would be greatly appreciated.
Most of the photographs include a scale, which is in inches.
I have made an effort to make these pages easy to download by restricting
the size of the image files. A thumbnail page will load first for each
location. If you want to see a larger image, click on the small image.
