Lynda Day
Played By: Julia Sawalha
Position in paper: Editor
Notable episodes: Monday-Tuesday, Shouldnt I Be Taller?, Going Back to Jasper Street, At Last a Dragon, Yesterdays News, The Big Finish?, The Big Hello, Holding On, Bad News,
Day Dreams, Friendly Fire, A Quarter to Midnight and There Are Crocodiles.
Before the Junior Gazette: Having always been an overachiever, Lynda was working on the school magazine when she was approached to be the editor of the student run Junior Gazette. Taking up the opportunity, Lynda immediately put her stamp on the paper and on the rest of the team.
Personality traits: Stubborn, self-assured and lacking any real social skills, Lynda gets the job done right and exactly when she wants it done. However her curt lip and no-nonsense attitude often leads her to feel excluded and unliked by the group.
Family: Lived with her mother until she moved into her own flat. There's no mention
of her father.
Friends: Lynda still finds she has (mostly) unwavering support in the form of
Kenny and Sarah. Best friends since they were five, Kenny is used to Lyndas ways and often at the receiving end of
one of her rants - but he is also the one person who knows the true vulnerability to Lynda Day that the others
might not get to see so often. Having been friends before they started the paper, Sarah found Lynda becoming
her boss slightly uncomfortable, but despite some of the major disagreement the pair have still remained close friends.
Love: Lyndas work attitude leaves her very little time for romance, and
any time she does have is often spent alone thanks to her brash attitude scaring guys away. However the start of the
Junior Gazette was also the start of her on/off relationship with Spike. Able to give back as good as he got,
the pair clashed more than a dozen times a day but in truth were equally passionate about each other as they were
about fighting with each other.

Spike Thomson
Played By: Dexter Fletcher
Position in paper: Field Reporter
Notable episodes:
Page One,
Shouldnt I Be Taller?,
At Last a Dragon,
The Rest of my Life,
Yesterdays News,
The Big Finish?,
The Big Hello,
Holding On,
Bad News,
Love and War and A Quarter to Midnight.
Before the Junior Gazette: Having moved to England from America four years previously, Spike had already made a big impact on Norbridge High thanks to his antics. His latest incident at the school dance ended with him being assigned to the Junior Gazette or face expulsion instead.
Personality traits: Quick witted, confident and cocky, Spike has enough charm to blow anyone away, making him a hit with the ladies and a great friends for the lads.
Family: After his mother left, Spike
grew up with dad but the relationship was far from harmonious and the two often argued - right up until his father's
sudden death, which was also the time that his mother came back into his life.
Love: Spike was always a bit of a ladies man, moving from one girl to
another. Although that didn't change when he met Lynda, Spike was certainly smitten with the tough editor
and his relentless pursuing eventually paid off with the pair embarking on an on/off relationship that played havoc
with Spike's heart.

Kenny Phillips
Played By: Lee Ross
Position in paper: Assistant Editor
Notable episodes:
How To Make a Killing - Part One,
How To Make a Killing - Part Two,
Love and the Junior Gazette,
Rock Solid,
The Big Finish? and
Chance is a Fine Thing.
Before the Junior Gazette: Dependable Kenny joined the Gazette voluntarily or at the assistance of best friend Lynda anyway providing a more accessible route to the boss for many of the staff.
Personality traits: Nice, reliable and kind are just three words most people use to describe Kenny.
Friends: Thanks to having been best friends with Lynda since he was a kid,
Kenny is one of the few people with the ability to handle the editor of the Junior Gazette - some of the time anyway.
Love: Kenny has a major problem when it comes to love - he's just too nice
to get a girlfriend. When he did think he'd met the one in Jenny Eliot, his reasonableness soon caused the relationship
to end. It's a shame he never met that certain Dublin Girl who may have been his perfect match...

Sarah Jackson
Played By: Kelda Holmes
Position in paper: Head of Features
Notable episodes:
One Easy Lesson,
Deadline,
Both Sides of the Paper,
Love and the Junior Gazette,
Friends Like These,
Killer on the Line,
She's Got It Taped and
Friendly Fire.
Before the Junior Gazette: Also a more conscious student, Sarah first applied to be editor of the Junior Gazette, but was forced to settle for head of features, where she was soon excelling.
Personality traits: Despite being a tough reporter, Sarah often lacks confidence when it comes to boys, exams and dealing with Lynda
Friends: Having been friends with Lynda since before the paper, it seems Sarah
likes her friends to be blunt after also befriending a mind-speaking Sam.
Love: Sarah's luck with men is equal to that of the rest of the gang's success with the opposite sex.
Her many relationships often end disastrous with Sarah being left heartbroken many a time.

Frazz Davis
Played By: Mmoloki Chrystie
Position in paper: Horroscopes
Notable episodes: Page One,
Picking Up The Pieces and
UnXpected.
Before the Junior Gazette: His lazy attitude and laid back style meant like Spike, Frazz was recruited to the paper thanks to the teachers of Norbridge High as a punishment.
Personality traits: Frazzs relaxed outlook, often oblivious manner and sarcastic nature means he fits right in with the rest of the Junior Gazette team
Friends: In the cool crowd with Spike, Frazz is also often the sidekick to
Colin's many whacky schemes.
Love: Frazz found romance in the form of chess genius Suzy Norton after
she initially thought he was a champion chess player too.

Colin Matthews
Played By: Paul Reynolds
Position in paper: Financial Advisor

A Night In,
Shouldn't I Be Taller?,
Something Terrible - Part One,
Something Terrible - Part Two,
Chance is a Fine Thing,
The Last Word - Part Two, In The Picture,
Heart and Head and
Windfall.
Before the Junior Gazette: Pre-paper Colin was a scheming, sneaky, aspiring entrepreneur a trait that landed him in the teachers bad books and onto the staff of the Junior Gazette. Post-paper...nothing much has changed.
Personality traits: Colin is the man with the gift of the gab, who manages to get on everyones nerves effortlessly while simultaneously landing himself in a whole new heap of trouble.
Family: Has a younger sister who is apparently even stranger than Colin...
Friends: While his schemes may often alienate people, Colin still thinks of his
Gazette colleagues as his buddies and despite them often writing him off as a screw-up, when it comes down to it they see him as
a friend too,
as seen when Lynda came to his rescue in Something Terrible - Part Two.
Love: Colin's ability to screw up any situation extends to his success with women. His crushes
on Ethel and Ruby went unfulfilled, and his dates with Judy and Julie went far from smoothly.

Julie Craig
Played By: Lucy Benjamin
Position in paper: Head of Graphics, then later Assistant Editor
Notable episodes: One Easy Lesson,
Bad News, In The Picture and Windfall.
Before the Junior Gazette: Julie found herself being forced to work on the Junior Gazette after she insulted one of her teachers.
Personality traits: Career minded and no-nonsense, as assistant editor Julie is learning just how to take Lynda on.
Love: Julie is notorious for her bad taste in men and her one date with Colin
proved that when the night ended in disaster for her pets...

Danny McColl
Played By: Charlie Creed-Miles
Position in paper: Photographer
Notable episodes:
Page One and
Deadline.

Toni 'Tiddler' Tildesley
Played By: Joanna Dukes
Position in paper: Writer of the Junior Junior Gazette section

A Night In and
Something Terrible
- Part One.
Personality traits: Confident and a romantic at heart, Tiddler isn't afraid to let people know when she's
unhappy...

crush on Spike.

Sam Black
Played By: Gabrielle Anwar

Notable episodes: Breakfast at Czar's, The
Week and Pizza and
Love and the Junior Gazette.
Personality traits: Confident in both her work and apperance, Sam was never afraid to tell Lynda what for.
Friends: Often frustrated by Sarah's lack of confidence, Sam provided her
friend with the push needed to help Sarah along in her love life, while often providing Kenny with an ear to chew on.
Love: A big hit with the boys, Sam didn't believe in love...just fun.
