just one of those things
(too hot not to cool down...)

GHOST WORLD, GHOST WORLD, GHOST WORLD!

I am Enid.  Enid is me.  Is who I was, anyway.  Even if you didn't know me at 18, you should go see this movie.  Because it's amazing.  Daniel Clowes so nailed what it's like to be an artsy, tragically disenfranchised teenage girl with his comic book; the movie just takes it that extra step further.  Thora Birch is spectacular.
Fun facts: Much of the movie was shot in San Pedro; One or two scenes were shot inside Sacred Grounds, where I spent a good portion of ages 17 through 20; Enid has the same hairstyle, wardrobe and see-through phone I had !
Steve Buscemi is of course brilliant as the middle-aged loser Enid gets involved with (ahem! another similarity).  GW is funny, whip-smart and melancholy in the right places.  Very close to perfect.

CRAWLING KINGSNAKE
As done by the Doors.  I hadn't heard that song in probably ten years, but the other day I went out after work to this horrifically fabulous dive and-- be still my heart!-- there was Crawling Kingsnake on the jukebox.  What an amazing song.  Mmm

MY NEW GEETAR
Cherry-red acoustic steel string.  Squier by Fender-- okay, not top of the line, but not too shabby for a rookie.  I need a name for her (she's a girl; she's too sassy to be a boy).  Sean suggested Big Red.  I like something more along the lines of Trixie, but that's Heather's name.  Maybe they won't mind sharing.

HOUSE-HUNTING
Oh, the perfect home is just around the corner!  I can feel it in my bones... no more "throwing money down the toilet," as my mom used to constantly say when we were being wasteful (that's one of those expressions I plan never to use when we have kids, by the way.).  No more undignified apartment living.  No more L.A.  Yee-haw!

what'd you miss, doll?
