just one of those things:
current obsessions
1. Finally, finally, at last.  After almost 15 years of waiting.  I got to see U2. I am still silly excited about this.

2. Tennessee Williams, again.  I am never going to stop being amazed by
The Glass Menagerie. But alas, I can never think of that play without also thinking of an unfortunate incident from my junior high years. The first summer we had cable, my brother and I were busy filling our waking hours with MTV and movie channels.  I came across the Paul Newman-directed film version of The Glass Menagerie.   I wanted to watch it; my brother did not.  The ensuing argument culminated in: a) my biting his bare shoulder (I had braces then); b) my immediate realization that that was the dumbest move I'd ever made; c) my seeking refuge in the downstairs bathroom for a good 45 minutes while he tried to knock the door down, Cops-style; and d) his answering the phone while I was still hiding and saying loud enough for me to hear, "No, she's taking a mean-ass shit!".  He then told me it was a boy I liked.  But it was really my best friend, who had a younger brother the same age, so she just shrugged it off. When my brother tells the story it involves his going upstairs and putting gunpowder in the wound like Rambo.

3. I didn't get into UCLA.  I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed or relieved.  I really don't want to go back to school, but I have a chip on my shoulder from not having finished my bachelors in 1997 like I was supposed to.

4. Shakira.  I know the album "Donde Estan Los Ladrones?" is old news, but "Ojos Asi"  and "Inevitable" are unbelievable.  As a whole the album is pretty overproduced, but the raw talent is astonishing.

5. Callouses from learning guitar.  Keepin' it real, baby... keepin' it real.
