A Coward, a Thief, and a Donkey by Marsha Jordan
I was thinking today about the kinds of people that God uses. Do you feel like
you're not important enough, smart enough, or eloquent enough to be used by
God for something worthwhile? Think again. God has a purpose for EVERY life.
He can and does use ALL sorts of people. He doesn't call those who are
qualified, He qualifies those that He calls. For instance, murderers who God
turned into religious leaders included Moses, King David, and the apostle
Paul.
Peter, a coward who denied three times that he even knew Jesus, was later used
by God as one of the leaders in the Christian church.
All twelve apostles chosen by Jesus were lowly, uneducated men. Some were
fishermen and one was a tax collector (despised by society because they were
usually greedy thieves). God transformed them into some of the most
influential teachers of all time.
No matter what talents you have (or lack), there's a purpose that only YOU can
fulfill in God's plans. In the Old Testament story of Baalam and his donkey,
God even used an animal to speak to a man. If he could use that jackass, He
can surely work through me too. :o)
