"My Granddaughter's Angel" by Cheryl McKinney

I've always believed in angels and a few years ago started collecting them as I found them so beautiful. My precious granddaughter confirmed my belief in angels by what she told me the other day.

For several years I've been trying to protect my precious granddaughter and also my grandson as I knew they were being abused and neglected by their mother and step-father, but especially my granddaughter as she seemed to be the target. I repeatedly reported the abuse and neglect to Children's Services but it seemed nothing was being done to help them. It broke my heart so to see the abuse and neglect and feel so helpless about it. I cried many times and was very depressed.

I turned to prayer, especially asking the Lord to send a Guardian Angel to be with them and protect them. I wouldn't give up and kept on Children's Services to do something to help my grandkids. Finally I decided to write letters to the Governor, Mayor, Police Chief, etc., begging them to do something to help my grandkids.

My prayers were answered as on May 13, 2003 Children's Services had me come to their office and meet with them and their attorney. They talked to me for 3 hours and then while I was sitting there they went to my grandkids' home and removed them from the home. The next day my husband and I were awarded temporary custody of them. My granddaughter told me on the day she was removed from her home she was awakened by a voice that kept calling her name and told her to wake up. When she woke up she said she saw a beautiful lady dressed in white. She said that what she was dressed in was beautiful, that she had such beautiful skin, and there was light all around her.

She asked her who she was and the lady told her that she was her Guardian Angel sent to be with her. She said she was her Guardian Angel then said to her "The time has come" and then she disappeared. A short time later Children's Services, along with the police came to the home and removed her and her brother from their home. My granddaughter told me that she always felt someone with her and when she was abused and crying she would feel arms encircle her in a warm hug. I feel my prayers were answered and she was sent a Guardian Angel to be with her and protect her.
