Even the Trees Were Whispering by Dori Bushee

Even the trees were whispering
as if they were trying hard to warn,
telling us to all be so careful
before the upcoming storm.

The skies darkened overhead
as the winds joined the symphony,
then a sudden chill filled the air
in a prelude of what was to be.

The torrential rains came down
as lightning crashed to the ground,
and then as if it was a miracle
once again there was no sound.

The air was cleansed from impurity
before allowing the gentlest breeze,
and we were lead down the path again
by the soft whispering of the trees.
