You Don't Have to be Superman to Feel Like a Hero by Ruth Gallant

Today the sun isn't shining
Rain has come to say hello
But deep inside a smile lies
For the memories I can't let go

The memories of yesterday
A morning walk in the sun
The cutting of a lawn
Before my day was done

I sat outside and crocheted
On an afghan for my daughter
And when it was time to come in
I simply wanted to hoop and holler

You see for many months
A dream lie deep within
It was not a dream for wealth
But the dream to simply walk again

Many times I prayed
For this little dream to come true

And many friends were praying
For this little miracle too

Now that it has happened
I know I must go slow
But try to tell that to two feet
That have so many places they want to go

So today through the rain
My thoughts are of yesterday
And I know when the sun comes back
I will try to make progress once again

I thank the Lord for today
I thanked Him even more for yesterday
For once again He has proven
Dreams don't always just slip away

Sometimes it takes a little help
From someone who truly cares
And no matter what happens tomorrow
This new doctor said he would be there

To help me turn the little steps
Into even far greater ones
But I know it would not be possible
If I had let faith fade before help had come

It's so easy to always question "Why"
It's so much harder to comprehend
Why things happen in our lives
But I have learnt it is all predestined

On the day that I was born
God sets me on my journey
But while in my mother's womb
He had already written my life's story

Each day I fulfill a chapter
In my journey down life's path
Each is a day to be cherished
For God doesn't create trash

So no matter if you don't have
What others around you do
It doesn't really matter
As long as to Him and yourself you're true

Here today through the rain
I look out at the world
Through a window that has allowed me to see
You don't have to be Superman to feel like a hero!
