I Will Survive by Pam Richardson

The heartbreak of a child having to grow up before her time.
Taking care of a family because her parents weren't around.
Learning to be a mom at the age of five because someone had to.
But through it all I did survive.

The teenage years of never having a boyfriend.
The boys never wanting anything to do with her because of her parents.
Staying home alone on Friday nights while everyone else had fun.
But through it all I did survive.

Meeting the person you thought was the most special one.
Then finding out they too wanted to hurt you as your parents did.
Finding out there was no one to depend on but yourself.
But through it all I did survive.

Raising children trying to give them love and guidance.
There is always a challenge to face with each and every one.
Then one turns to drugs and alcohol to turn your world upside down.
But through it all I did survive.

Then one day when the most precious of your children has a problem.
You try to help them but they push you away further each moment.
Then when their life is cut short it takes your heart with them.
But through it all I did survive.

Life changes so much when your heart is broken.
There is no joy and happiness to get you through the day.
Only heartache and grief to pass the time away.
But through it all I did survive.

Then one day you wake up and your whole world has changed.
All the things you use to know are gone.
All the things you built your hopes and dreams on are gone.
But through it all I did survive.

Life gives us lessons that are sometimes hard to deal with.
We fight to get through each day as if tomorrow will be better.
Then tomorrow comes and there are more challenges to deal with.
But through it all I will survive.

Some day all you have waited for will come along.
The struggles you have survived will help to make you stronger.
You can survive anything that life throws at you or so you think.
But through it all I will survive.

Take life one day at a time.
Enjoy the moment for there may never be another.
Take life for what it is, a gamble each and every day.
In the end, through it all I will survive.
