Remembering Your Birthday by Dori Bushee

I'll remember you on your birthday
though you're no longer here,
and I'll be thinking about you
because I still miss you dear.

It seems like only yesterday
that we shared our time together,
trying to figure out what life's about
and believing there was a "forever".

Time passes much too quickly
and it ends without any warning,
as you closed your eyes to go to sleep
never to see another morning.

The truth hit me so very hard
as it broke my heart in two,
never giving me one more chance
to tell you that I really loved you.

I'll remember you on your birthday
and I'll pretend that we're not part,
but perhaps that is true reality
for you'll always be in my heart!
