My Fire ©

Who am I?... What am I?... Were am I going?...
As I look into the flames as the fire licks at the logs,
I feel like I am engulfed in the eternity of time.
Am I stagnant?... Am I reaching out?... Am I alive?...
While sparks jump out in angry rebellion
They try to find a life of their own.
I sit... I listen...I am enthralled.
..
As the coals simmer and glow
Keeping the life light burning.
I shiver, then am warmed,
As the flames reach upward
Spreading their radiance about them.
I rest...I relax...I am content.
As the fire dies down
At the end of a perfect day.
I wait...I hope...I look to tomorrow...
As the tiny spark of fire hidden in the embers
Waits to grab hold and begin again.
