In this life you only get one chance
To show those who love you that you care
Don't ever get too bogged down or busy
Just remember to always be there
Through the times of thick or thin
Through the darkness and the rain
Remember you can be the light for others
When they are troubled by their pain
Whether it be physical or emotional
Some days are so hard to just get trough
But you can lift the heart and soul of others
If you just put the focus on them and not on you
How easy it is to want to ignore them
In their hours or days of distress
Yet how easy it to want them to be there
If it is your day that goes amiss.
Remember that time means nothing
If you forget to put it to good use
Remember the heart that cries out in pain today
Could be yours that cries out tomorrow
We all have days we wish that we
Could just shut out the world and be alone
But it is having those who call us friend
That keeps a sense of happiness in our soul
Even on the saddest days or those filled with pain
We can turn a heart from cold to warm
By turning their thoughts to sunshine and not of rain.
It seems sometimes our days get rained on
By so many things in life that go wrong
But by reaching out and being a friend
You can make a sad heart sing a happier song
Here I write this poem today that's from my heart
I hope that if you are in pain or hurting
It will bring some comfort to your heart
In knowing that you are not alone
There are others who have been there too
It is my friends who do this for me
When my days are grey and not so blue
Let your friends be there for you too
Remember to always be kind and gentle
Never overbearing or "Mister Right"
Just open your heart to listen
Today is the first day of the rest of your life
Do not live your days just cruising or idling along
But put your butt in gear and shift to third
Your heart and others will sing a much happier song
So if you are wondering
Just what this poem is all about
It is today, it is about life,
Stand up and make yours count.
