THE RITE OF PASSAGE By Ron Reese

I've got stories of yesteryear,
Hidden deep in the back of my mind's eye,
Stories of joyfulness,
And some that would make one cry.

Yes, as I'm thinking back to yesterday,
And the dreams I left behind,

I'm reminded of joys and failures.
Sometimes I was filled with insight,
During other times I was quite blind.

But in the common rite of passage,
Which it seems we must all journey through,

Life is full of its hills and its valleys,
Some skies grey with angry clouds,
Others sunny, cloudless, and blue.

As we step through the present rite of passage,
And depart for what ere the future may hold,
Let us remember the path we've thus trod,
And face the future with a courage, daring and bold.
