Tossing Stones by Brenda Conley

Standing at the waters edge
Tossing in my stones
Dreaming of another life
I wish… I could have had
I peered into the ripples
There… I view this life, that I have known
Each ripple held a memory
Some were very good to see… some were also bad
The beautiful reflecting ones held for me much gladness
While the others that did not shimmer or shine
Were the days in my life
When times were lonely and very sad
In that moment, I fell to my knees
Adding my tears to the salty sea
Gazing to the heavens
I cried...
"Lord, Please ease this aching heart of mine”
Where once was overcast and cloudy skies
I tossed in my very last stone
Then the sun peeked through so beautifully… to shine
Revealing a sea of beautiful and glittering ripples
There I stood in amazement
As I viewed all the blessings… given to me
Next time...
Dear Lord, I’ll toss my stones
While the sun, does wonderfully shine
To remind me of all the good things
In this bless filled life of mine
