In the corner of the patio was a smaller table holding many gifts. On the opposite corner was the grill ready and waiting for the hot dogs and hamburger that were planed as the main course. " Hey Capt, guys make yourselves right at home." Roy greeted with a smile. " What's this?" He asked noticing a somewhat large box under his Captain's arms. " Oh me and the guys pooled our money together and bought Nicci a present. It's the latest Atari system and a couple games." Captain Stanley said." I hope she likes it." " I think she'll love it, I dont' know any teenager that wouldn't flip over an atari." Roy said " Yeah even us older people." Chet said " Now Kelly, It's Nicci's not yours." Johnny said with everyone laughing at the statments Seeing her husbands friends Jo came out." Hank, its so good to see you." She greeted giving a warm hug to her husbands captain. " I'm glad to see you guys." She greeted them all. Then taking the gift from Captain Stanley she placed it on the table with all the others. ..... Soon the party was in full swing, Taking in all the decorations Nicci stopped. She wasn't to sure as to what she was surpose to do because she never had a party like this. All she did know is that it made her feel very unconfortable to the point that she backed up. Taking her gently by the arm Roy stopped her from leaving. " Happy Birthday Nicci ." He said with a fatherly smile Holding out a pink envelope Jo said." Nicci this came from Mississippi." Taking the card Nicci stood there for a moment her tiny body beginning to shake. Then turning she started to walk away. " Nicci aren't you going to open it, its from your mother?" Jo asked Stopping her retreat Nicci spoke while looking at her father" No. I'm not going to open it, I thought I'd just put with all the other lies." Roy wasn't to sure what to think about her remark, but he knew it was best not to push. Deciding to let it drop he spoke. " Nicci, why do you want to leave, this is your birthday party." While holding out his arms as if to display his friends as well as the scenery. " I thought this is what you would have wanted Nicci." "Well you thought wrong." She stopped as all that was inside her exploded." LOOK I DONT NEED A BIRTHDAY PARTY FROM YOU. AND THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS SPEND MY BIRTHDAY WITH YOUR BUTT FUCKING FIREMEN BUDDIES." She tried to fight the situation , Although she did not know as to why. Hearing those words Roy grabbed her firmly by the arm. "Nicci , now thats enough. I will not have you disrespecting my friends. She cussed " Okay that's it, young lady you get yourself to that room of yours right now and stay there. I dont want to see you come out until your ready to apologize." Roy scolded As soon as Nicci was out of range Roy turned to his friends." I'm sorry bout that guys, I dont know what has gotten into her." Roy apologized. " Roy it's not your fault. You are trying your best." Captain Stanley said. ......Meanwhile down stairs......... Slamming her door shut behind her she screamed," YOU FUCKING LIAR." while throwing the card that she received from her mother in a shoe box where she had kept the birthday cards from the past most of them still unopened. Feeling very confused she bolted to the door, With both fists swinging she hit the door repeatedly while crying out....."WHY..... YOU FUCKING LIARS....... DROP DEAD.......I HATE YOU..... I HATE YOU ALL....." She continnued her rant. Then looking towards the nightsand all tears of hers stopped. Then walking over she pulled open the drawer and took a small sandwhich baggy out. In her eyes the grassy contents was the only thing that made her feel better about herself and her past. Then taking the rolled up joint out of the bag she quickly put it to her lips and lit it. Toking hard she alowed the marijuana to fill her lungs and her mind. Throwing herself backwards on the bed Nicci was enjoying the effects. She was stoned" Oh yeah.......this is some wicked good ass shit" She mananaged as she started to laugh uncontrolably." Happy birthday to me.... Happy birthday to me." She sang to herself in between giggles. Then all without warning she felt her stomach churning. Getting up she staggered into the bathroom. No sooner did she get to the toilet her fagile tummy let loose. Hearing his older sister through the walls, Christopher stood in front of the bathroom door. " Nicci you okay?" He asked. Without an answer he headed upstairs to find his dad. Then stopping he could see the heavy blacket of smoke that filled her room along with a lingering scent that he didn't reconize. Continuing his search he headed upstairs. Seeing his father out side sitting at the table with his friends that remained after the last scene Chris stopped." Hey dad." He said as stopping at Roys side. " What is it son?" Roy asked seeing his sons face held the look of both worry and wonder. " Dad I think Nicci's sick. She's puking and there's a aweful smelling smoke in her room." Starting their investigation Roy and his friends went inside and headed straight for Nicci. " Nicci, you okay in there?" Roy asked pushing open the bathroom door. " GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE." She said " Hey Roy, Chris is right . Her room reeks pot." Chet said walking up behind his Captain. Leaving Nicci with dry heaves, Roy and his friends went to Nicci's room all were instanly slapped in the face with the stench. Then walking over to the nightstand Roy picked up the roach that was left behind." Dammit." Roy cursed. " WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE."Nicci exploded seeing her privacy being invaded Ignoring her outburst Roy was trying desprately to keep a level head. Then giving up on trying to make a bad situation better he asked " Where's the rest?" " I ain't telling you shit." Nicci declared. Seeing that Nicci wasn't about to give in. Roy knew what he had to do as a responcible father." Fine if you want us to play we'll play. But we're going to tear this room apart until we find your dope." Roy ended " Fuck you. you cant do that." Nicci said. Then seeing Johnny as he went to open her dresser drawer she attacked. " GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE." she yelled striking him in the face Watching her attack on Johnny. Captain Stanley couldn't take anymore. " NOW THAT'S ENOUGH MISSY." He said flattly. Then grabbing her arms he looked up at Roy and said." Roy you and Johnny do whatever you have to do. Me and Nicci's going to family room." He said taking Nicci out of the room not giving her a chance to get away. Holding her arms he sat her down on the couch " Now sit right there, dont move." He ordered taking her down on the couch. His anger building as he stood up letting his 6ft 2 in body show. " Fuck you, you son of a bitch." Nicci spat " That's enough. You watch your mouth right now." Captain Stanley said. " Your going to sit right here." Hearing the comotion in her room Nicci yelled." WHAT THE FUCK." As she went to get up only to be stopped by Captain Stanley. " I TOLD YOU TO SIT DOWN, AND YOUR GOING TO SIT DOWN EVEN IF I HAVE TO SIT ON TOP OF YOU." Captain's anger building rapidly. Walking out of her bedroom Roy held up a baggy that was slightly larger the first one " Well guess we found what we wanted." He said. Then taking the place of his Captain he looked down." Now young lady, you listen and you listen good. If you ever, and I mean ever bring dope into the house again. I'll send you right to Juvenile haul.
