Previously: Roy finds drugs in Nicci's room Authors Notes: One week later Sitting in his truck Captain Stanley waited patiently for Sherry to come walking out of the school. Captain Stanley finally had a day off and he wanted to spend some quiality time with his only daughter. While sitting there he could see a small group of teenage boys had formed in front of a bolder that was used for landscape. One boy he had reconized as being accused of an arsen six months ago. As he watched he spotted Nicci in the crowd. From where he was parked he could see her smoking while one of the boys that was sitting on the bolder pulled her close by wrapping his arms around her waist. He was witness to this boy putting his hands on Nicci's inner thigh grinding her back side into his growin. " Come on Nicci you know you want it." The boy said loud enough for the Captain to over hear. " Hi daddy, I'm ready sorry it took so long." Sherry greeted. Without her fathers responce she looked over toward Nicci. " Dad?" she questioned " Sherry, what do you know about this." Stanley asked " Not much. I know she drinks and I know that the boy standing next to her is almost twenty, He's old enough to buy legally. I also seen her take speed a couple of days ago. One time I seen her get in to that guys van" Sherry said pointing to the boy who was touching Nicci who looked at least eighteen ." He's a senior you know." Seeing a hint of sadness in her fathers face she said." Dad I wanted to be her friend but she wont let me. She rather party and spend time with the senior boys then to have me as a friend." Hearing his daughter words, Captain Stanley thought. He was never the kind to choose the friends of his daughter but this time he knew that he had no choice." Sherry, I dont want you to be around Nicci. She's made her mind up as to how she wants to live her life. I dont want you to be a part of that kind of life."Captain said " Dad, you know me, I'm not going to do what Nicci does. I have my future to think about. I want to be a doctor and I dont want to mess that up." Sherry assured." Dad, I've never went against your wishes but I cant turn away from her. You wouldn't turn your back on someone caught in a fire. And I cant turn my back on her." She stopped as the sound of Nicci's cuss words rang loud and clear. Then continuing she said " Dad, yesturday she threw up in the restroom. I was standing in front of the sinks and when she came out of the stall she looked very sick. Her face was white and she was shaking. She said that her stomach hurt so I took her to the school nurse. What's surprising is that she let me." Hearing Sherry's words Captain Stanley filled with pride. Taking her in his arms he gave her a strong fatherly hug. ............the next morning...... Morning Pal," Captain Stanley greeted seeing Roy enter the day room "Morning." Roy returned sitting down at the table with his first cup of coffee " So what's up with Nicci now that she's back in school." Chet wanted to know. Looking down at his cup he wasn't sure how to answer Chet's question. But knowing that the men in front of him was just as much as a victim of Nicci as he was he decided to speak." She's the same, I know she's still on dope. she tries to hide it but I can see right through it." Roy said Remembering what he and Sherry had dicussed the previous day Captain Stanley took part in the conversation." Roy Sherry told me resturday that she saw Nicci take speed. and she told me that she knew that Nicci was drinking." " Yes I know." Roy said " Roy Sherry also told me that she saw Nicci climb in a van with a boy. She didn't say why but you and I both know what goes through the mind of a boy with a girl and a van." Hearing his Captain words Roy could feel his world start to shatter. He was trying so hard to reach Nicci. But no matter how hard he tried the more she faught. " I dont know what to do anymore." He said feeling himself giving up. " I cant reach her. I tried, Jo's tried, but we cant get through. What the hell am I surpose to do?" Roy asked " Roy I wish I had an easy answer for you, but I don't." Captain Stanley said. " But you know that we're here for you. Now it's nothing personal, but when I and Sherry were talking I told her I didn't want her to hang around Nicci." " Capt, I understand I wouldn't want my daughter to hang around someone like Nicci either."Roy said," But you know thats the sad part Nicci is my daughter and I love her very much. But she wont let me love her." Roy ended leaving the room just as the klaxons sounded ......Later in the evening ....... It was evening time and after spending an hour at their last run, the men at station 51 all piled in the day room while Roy walked over to the pay phone to call his home. Hanging up the phone Roy joined his friends at the table." So how things going at home?" Johnny asked " Good I guess, Jo said Nicci wasn't feeling good when she came home from school. She's most of the evening in her room. " Did Jo say what was wrong with her." Johnny asked " No not to much just that she had a stomach ache." Roy said his voice lined with worry.
