At the DeSoto home, All Roy could do is toss and turn. Still no one has seen or heard from Nicci since she left the station 4 days ago. Turning he watch Jo, her stomach rising and falling with each intake of breathe. Then deciding it best he slowly climbed out of bed as to save Jo from his restless night. Walking into the living room Roy turned on the small lamp that sat on the table next to his favorite chair. Taking a seat he looked over and spotted the photo album that Betty had given him the day he took left Mississippi with Nicci. In Silence Roy picked up the album and peaked inside. He instantly went back to a period in his life that was happy and filled with love. Starring down at his little girl, Roy could no longer contain his tears, for each picture told a story all their own. As if trying to hold his little girl one more time he placed the opened book of memories acrossed his chest he sobbed " Why." Feeling the presents of his wife Roy looked up." Betty was right, it hurts like hell to know your own bloods hates the ground you walk on."He whimpered his heart still aching just as much as the day she said those hurtfull words to him. " Oh Roy," Jo soothed taking her husband in her arms allowing a portion of his to pain escape. ..........The next morning....... Studying his partner. Johnny could see that Roy was passed the point of worry. His face was a bit paler and his eyes were rimmed with dark circles from lack of sleep. " How's it going Roy?" He asked concerned for his partner and best friend. " Well its going." Roy replied taking his seat at the table then tossing a reel to reel tape on the table. " She's listed as a run away and they have a APB on her but so far nothing's come up." As if reading his mind Johnny spoke." It's not your fault Roy, she had it coming." " Oh come on Johnny, I've never spanked the kids." " I understand it's hard." Johnny tried to soothe " Johnny how can you possibly understand you dont have any kids. Dont sit there and tell me you understand when there's no way that you can." Roy said. " No he doesn't but I do." Captain Stanley spoke up."And so does Stoker, and we do understand." Captain assured" I can't speak for Stoker but the way I see it is, you did what any father would do. She was out of control, and you had no choice" Not hearing a responce Captain Stanley looked down at the reel to reel tape that Roy had placed in front of them." Roy what's on the tape?" " I'm not sure, Betty gave it to me. She said it was a home movie of the time we all went to Bald headed beach." Roy said." To be honnest, I dont even know why I brought it here. I haven't watched it." " Then dont you think it's about time." Captain Stanley said gently laying his hand on Roy's arm as a way for confort." Kelly could you and Lopez set up the projector?" " Right Capt." They responded Sitting in rec area with his friends all around him Roy sat watching the screen. As he watched himself play with Nicci in the crystal like waters new tears formed. Silently wiping his tear stained cheeks, it seemed to Roy like a lifetime since he heard her laugh. These tears that Roy shed were real. The very depth of his soul ached. As the movie came to an end. Roy could not hide his shedding tears any longer from his friends. For the last captured scene was of the time he and Nicci shared an ice cream cone when she was just four years old. With her sweetest girl smile she said her final words " I love you daddy." Seeing Roy cave, Captain Stanley took his seat next to him." It's okay pal." Stanley soothed. He knew that those words were hard on Roy. " I really do understand." " No Capt." Roy started." With all do respect you dont understand. Sherry loves you." Roy sobbed " Roy she didn't mean it." Captain Stanley assured trying desprately to confort his heart broken friend. " Capt, it doesn't matter if she meant it or not, she still said it." Roy sobbed." She might as well ripped my heart out , cause thats what it felt like." " I know how you feel I know it hurts." Captain soothed " No Capt you dont know."Roy said." And I hope you wont ever know the pain that come from being hated by you own child , cause I wouldn't wish this kind of pain on any one."
