Once you got past the smell, the easy part was the taste at least it wasn't, as bad." "It was not that much better." They both were laughing at Roy's last statement. John, turned back toward the sink he didn't want Roy to see the pain return to him face, he had almost for gotten about it for a moment almost but now it had returned with the moment of the laugh. After the dishes were done Roy and the rest of the guys decided to watch some TV no one was surprise when John had decided to turn in early. Roy half watched the movie and kept his mind on John, he would every so often go in the dorm and check on his partner. When Roy finally decide to call it a night himself he couldn't help but sit on the edge of his own bed and wonder what was up with John, it almost seem like he was hiding something from him, Roy wonders if maybe John was getting the flu. Just as the day before had been so was the night for station 51 it was also slow, they had not been tone out at all during the night. When the morning tones sounded, Roy was glad that John had full nights rest, but was even more surprised to find that his bed was empty. After a quick look, John was found taking his morning shower. "Morning Johnny," Roy called to him over the running water of the shower "Morning," Was the soft reply from the shower. "Feeling any better today?" Roy knew he sound worse then better today "No not really, I'm sure glad we only have a few hours to go on this shift." By this time Johnny had wrapped a towel around his body and was stepping out of the shower. Chet always followed John and was going to get impatient here soon. "GAGE!" Hollered Chet from the shower. "WHAT!" John hollowed back he was in no mood for Chet today. "Man Gage, next time you shave in the shower clean the hair out of the drains will you, that is gross to look at!" Even Roy was a little taken back by this statement. John, had no clue what Chet was going on about "Chet what are you talking about?" "Look," Chet pointed to the drain of the shower, which was full of long dark hairs. "Least he can do is clean it out!" Roy could not believe his eyes, "John, where is that hair from?" John just shrugged his shoulders �must be thinning out on top some I guess." Roy watched as John got dressed he still seemed a little stiff, John also had decided to run a brush through his hair, it too looked like the drain it was now full of hair, "Boy I must be getting old." He was styling back his bangs when Roy entered the locker room, John was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice that he was in the room until he speak "John" John jump with a start that he dropped the brush to the floor and glared at Roy "Man Roy you just about gave me a heart attack." John bent over to pick up the hair brush off the floor, as he did Roy couldn't help, but notice that John seem to be having trouble reaching it, it seemed to him that John's pants were to tight. "Pants a little tight there John?" Roy asked as John redid his pants. "Just a little around the waist, must of put on a few pounds last week wasn't up to doing any thing all week so I just lay around the house guess I didn't work off Marco's cooking. I was just to tire to go any where or do anything that's all." "John Gage putting on weight? Okay now I'm worried?" Roy said aloud after John excused himself to go to the restroom. What Roy didn't realize was that the Captain had come in looking for John right as Roy made his comment "What's up Pal?" "Cap, it's John, he's really starting to worry me, he has no appetite, but is gaining weight, I know that scary huh, and he's losing his hair too" "Yeah, that I know Chet let me know all about it, after his shower was done." Cap like Roy was starting to get worried also. "Cap and to top it all off, he says he's been having "HOT FLASHS," I really think there is more to yesterdays accident then he's letting on, for a man who was not even in the wreck, he sure is stiff." "Your right Roy something just not are not adding up, but I came in here to tell Johnny, that Vince is on his way over, his need to ask some questions about yesterday maybe he'll have some information we might be missing from John." What the 2 men didn't know was as John was using the rest room he discover a great deal of blood in his urine. "Hey Roy?" John called to Roy as he went for the coffee he need to talk to Roy to let his know what he had just found. "Can I talk to you for a minute please?" Roy turned to see that the look on John face, was worry that something was wrong, John looked so pale and seemed so weak "Johnny are you alright?" Roy didn't like the looks of his partner at all John started to answer with a NO, when Vince walked in to the room "Good morning guys," Vince greeted the whole station �Hey John just the man I want to talk to " "Hey Vince,� man he was in no mood to talk to Vince today either. "Vince how about some coffee, and you and John can use my office if you need to?" The Cap offered "No I think we can talk right here and coffee would be great if that's alright with John?" "Yes, whatever can we just get this over with already?" Everyone in the room turn to look at John, it was unlike him to bite someone head off let alone Vince's. "Sure John," Vince got out his notebook and John went for the coffee pot, "okay John what I need from you, "is for you tell me about the accident yesterday?" Vince, wasn't sure if this was a good time or not "Well there is not much to tell, Vince by the time I got to the wreck it was over with. I was about a mile away when the traffic started to back up. I figured it was wreck so the closer I got, I didn't see any help or hear anything coming so I decided to stop and see what I could do. I went car by car helping the best I could, until Roy and the others to arrive on the scene. After that I came here to the station so like I said not much to tell you." Vince wasn't sure that John had even heard him he didn't seem to be looking to good. Vince got up to leave when he remembered there was one question that he need answer about the accident yesterday that John maybe able to answer. "John?" Vince noticed that Roy was moving closer to the paramedic. Roy had been watching Johnny and didn't like the way he looked, he could tell that he was getting worse and wondered how John was still on his feet. "Yeah, Vince?" his answer was hardly heard by the men in the station. Roy was beside John by this time �Johnny? Johnny? Can you hear me?" With that Johnny�s world began to spin, the pain in his back was getting worse and his legs were getting weaker, and he was doing all he could to stand up. Then before he could say a word his world went black. "Johnny!" Captain Stanley had also been watching Johnny and had moved to the other side of John and was there to help Roy catch John and lower him to the floor. As Cap and Roy lowered the limp John Gage to the floor Mike and Marco got the equipment off the squad and Chet called in the still alarm and called for ambulance. After Vince got over the shock of what he saw, he too went to Johns side. "Roy what's wrong with him?" Vince asked even though he had a good idea. "Don't know Vince but since that accident yesterday he's been kind of off, if you know what I mean. John had come around enough to hear Roy talking �Roy?" Through his pain. "Relax Johnny I'm right here." Vince knew he better ask his question while he had the chance �Listen Johnny the main reason for my visit was to find out if you saw the man who was hit by a car at after the wreck?" John opened his eyes a little to see his partner looking at his John could not help but let a little smile creep on to his face. "Johnny did you get hit by that car?" Vince knew it was time to tell what he knew "Listen Hank, I was doing an interview with one of the victims of yesterdays wreck, this morning and all she could ask me was how that young man who got hit by the car was doing. So I put 2 and 2 together and figured it had to be Johnny here. I remember when we got to the wreck, John that like looked a mess, and came up with it had to be him, it all made since." "Cap I knew he didn't tell us everything about that accident." Roy look at Cap, and shook his head "But Roy we checked him over, I was here with you when you checked him out he was fine?" With that Roy turned to the Captain "Cap help me roll him on to his side so I can get a look at his back." Sure enough under Johns uniform was a big bruise on his back . The men from station 51 saw John's back and went right to work on getting vitals for Roy while he sat up the biophone. "Rampart, Squad 51 how do you read me?" "Squad 51 this is Rampart go a head" Roy was glad to hear Doctor Brackett's voice on the link. "Rampart we have a male 26 who was hit by a car yesterday morning, Bp is 100 over 80 rep. 15 and pulse is 120 he is in considerable amount of pain here, also rampart he reported that there was blood in his urine. There is a large bruise on his back and it is tender to the touch." "51 start IV D5W TKO, how soon can you transport him?" Roy could tell in the Doc's voice that he knew who the patient was. "Ambulance has just arrived ETA about 10 minutes." As Roy and the others got John into the ambulance, Roy told Vince and the Captain that the would call as soon as he knew something. After they were on their way to the hospital Roy ask someone question now that John seemed to be awake more. "Johnny did you hurt any thing else in that accident?" "No, just stiff and sore." "Were you knocked out at all, did you hit your head at all?" "No mother just stun that all." "Johnny I know but I need some answer here, John can you tell me, did the hair loss and the hot flashes started yesterday or before then?" Roy could see that the pain was getting worse by the movement of the ambulance "No a few weeks now no big deal." "Hang in there pal, you have one big butt chewing coming and your not getting out of it that easy." Roy smiled at John All at once Johns eyes flew open �Roy I'm going to ...� as fast as Roy could he rolled John on to his side while John empty the coffee that he had drank, his stomach that he had drank just a little while ago. It seemed like forever before they arrived to the hospital. Dixie was waiting for them to arrive. �Room 4 is all set up and Doctor Brackett is waiting for him." Roy figured that since, Dixie didn't seem to be upset seeing that John was the patient, he figure that Doc had filled her in on his guess. "How is he doing Roy?" Doc was already checking his pupils, �Doc he threw up in the ambulance on the way in, his vitals haven't change any, he keeps going in and out on me and he did say that his back was the only thing that seemed to be bothering him." "Okay lets get X-rays down here stat and I want a blood work up on him." Roy hadn't told the doc about the other things yet and figured he better, " Hey, Doc there are some other things I think you need to know about, that aren't related to the accident " Doctor Brackett stopped and looked at Roy "What's going on Roy?" Roy then went on to tell the Doctor about the hot flashes the loss of appetite and the weight gain and the hair loss. "Doc he seems to think that is no big deal, you know John, he thinks getting hit by a car is no big deal either." Roy couldn't help but let a little laugh out, John was known for keeping his little secrets from them all, when it came to getting hurt. " Okay thanks, Roy, Dixie add a T-3 and a T-4, I have a feeling that this little accident our friend had may of been a good thing after all ." "Doc?" Roy was a little puzzled by what the doctor had just said.
