Roy, couldn't stay away from the hospital to long, he was back at the nurses station the next morning . "Morning Dix how is he doing?" "Still out, but the meds seem to be working on the infection. Before you go see Johnny, Doctor Brackett wants to see you in his office." "Alright Dix, and thanks, that�s good news huh" Roy soon knock on Doc Brackett's door "come in� Roy informed the doctor that he had gotten his message and after a brief greeting Roy sat down across from the doctor. "Roy the test I ran, are back and they confirm what I believed was going on." Roy let a look of sadness fall on his face. This didn't escape the doctor "Roy first let me assure you this won't end his career on the fire department, John has a low thyroid problem, that's why I said that the accident might of been a good thing John loves to hide things and in this case, if he had hid it to long he might of gotten hurt, or even killed at a fire or failed his fireman test due to no energy. The worse thing here is, he will have to take a little pill for a while or if the thyroid is completely gone for the rest of his life, but its nothing that will stop him from doing what he loves the most and that's working with you all at station 51." As the doctor talk, Roy felt himself relaxing, for the first time in 2 days. "Doc that explains how he looked and all?" "Yea, in a few days after we get that kidney working, you won't even notice that he has a problem. The only thing is were going to have to make sure he's taking his pill every day. If you notice that he's getting weaker and tired all the time, he'll lose the weight he gained, so if it comes back, you let me know right away, I, can run a simple one minute test on him for his med level. I will also inform John that every so often, he will have to take this test to make sure its a strong enough dosage," he winked at Roy with a smile on his face. "And if that level is down he'll get on good type Dixie McCall type lecture like the one he's going to get when he's ready to go home from her on this." With that they walked out of the room together to go see, if John was a wake yet. With that he and the doctor began to explain the test results to John. Roy was certain that John was not able to understand them and that in a few days they would be going over it all again. Roy was relieved that John was going to be alright and with that he said good bye to his friend and partner , he couldn't help but wonder how long it would be until John found himself back at Rampart.
