As Johnny drove home he once more lost himself in the thought of Amanda, and it took him a minute to realize he was on the same street as Ryans Resturant.How did I get here? I live on the other side of town. Oh well, maybe I'll stop in for a bite and who knows maybe Amanda will be there, he thought.Well where the hell did the place go? you Fool, you passed it a block ago,what the heck is wrong with you Gage, it's not like you've never seen a girl before, He added to his thoughts as he went around the block. He pulled up in the parking lot and parked his Land Rover.He walked in and got in the line to order his meal.After ordering the all you can eat buffet he walked over to one of the bars to fix his plate. After his plate was full,he went back to his table sat down and began eating. "Excuse me sir ,is everything okay?" The waitress asked. "Everything's just fine,thanks." "Let me know if you need anything." "Wait, you wouldn't happen to know if Amanda is working tonight?" "No sir she's not,she's off tonight." "Oh." After a while Johnny had finished his meal and was headed home, Now it's safe to think about Amanda, he thought entering his apartment. Flipping through the channels he decided there wasn't nothing good on TV. Johnny sat back on the couch and once again lost himself in thoughts of Amanda How pretty she was and those big blue eyes of hers.Johnny then got up from the couch and walked down the hallway that led to his bedroom. Looking over at the clock he decided to go to bed, after all he wanted to look his best tomorrow. As he got undressed and climbed into bed,He couldn't help but let his thoughts of Amanda grow more intence. ............. As Johnny drove into the Station parking lot he found it harder to contain himself. All he could think about was Amanda and how beautiful she was. He couldn't wait to see her again. " Morning how's it hangin buddy." Johnny said slapping Roy on the shoulder while greeting Marco with a hand shake "Good morning, it looks like your in a good mood Junior,What's up?"Roy asked while tucking in his shirt. "Oh nothing's up." Johnny replied opening his locker door. Or at least not anymore.He thought smirking as his mind wondered back to the dream he had last night. "Well, I am in a good mood." Johnny remarked pulling off his shirt "Morning."Stoker announced entering the room. "Morning, is she here yet?"Johnny asked while excitment over took him. "Is who here?"Mike asked undoing his pants. "You know,Amanda." Johnny replied "Oh yeah that's right, no not yet." "Is that why you been acting like your about to burst."Roy said laughing at the way his partner was acting "Oh yeah." "I wondered what she's gonna fix."Marco asked "I don't know but I bet it'll be good."Johnny replied as he sat in his locker staring off into space. "I hope so, I don't think the Captain can handle another dinner like the first one."Roy said thinking back to the Trout. "SHE'S HERE, SHE'S HERE." Chet shouted running into the locker room. Johnny consummed by his excitment jumped up and started running out to greet Amanda, only to trip over his feet, landing face first on the floor. "Junior you okay."Roy asked trying hard not to bust a gut laughing "I'm just fine."Johnny said picking himself up and running out to the bay only to run into the side of the enigine "Okay, my partner is gone, what kind of sence do the rest of you have?" "Oh we're fine, but it just goes to prove my point that a pretty face can be dangerous to us guys."Chet said Johnny finally made it safely out back to the parking lot.He stopped quick as he watched Amanda in a black Jeep brushing her hair. She was wearing a pair of blue jean shorts and a red short sleeve shirt.Johnny shook his head then started walking up to her. While the other guys stood back watching Johnny lose it. "Yep, he's gone all right."Chet said watching Johnny knees try to give out from under him the closer he got to the Jeep. "Like I said he's twiter paited."Mike said chuckling at his words Johnny held out his hand and helped her down."Hi there."Johnny said greeting her with his famous smile. "Hello."She replied smiling still holding his hand after climbing down. At that point Johnny looked down to see her hand in his "Oh sorry, I guess you'll need your hand back."Amanda said "Nope I still got this one."Johnny said with his crooked grin while holding up his other hand Amanda then let go of his hand and grabbed a sack out of the back seat "Can I help you with anything?"Johnny asked. "Uh yeah if you don't mind you can grab a bag."She answered pointing to the row of bags in the back seat. Soon all the guys walked over to lend a hand. ...... They entered the kitchen and sat the bags on the table."Oh,you guys finally decided to show up to work I see."Stanley said as he sat at the table reading the paper and drinking his coffee. "Yeah Cap, I wouldn't miss this day for anything,a earthquack couldn't keep me away." Johnny replied looking over at Amanda. Amanda slowly started taking items out of the sacks. Among other items she took out Apples, Flour and a mixture of Spices. "Would you like some help?"Johnny asked walking up to where Amanda was standing. "No I don't think so,I can manage. Dinner will be ready around 6:00. "Amanda said turning to start dinner. "Come on guys, I bet if we look hard enough we can find some work to do."Captain said walking out of the room while the guys followed. Amanda then stopped Johnny from leaving the room by placing her hand on his arm."Hey if you don't mind and if you have some time, you can come in and keep me company."Amanda said in her soft sweet voice. "Okay sure." Johnny replied smiling before leaving the room. Amanda then turned and started cooking the dinner she had planned.She put the roast in the oven ,then turned and walked to the table to start making the bread. As she put the ingredients in the bowl, she didn't notice that the guys had returned to the kitchen and was standing there starring cause she wasn't using any measuring spoons. "Is there anything wrong?"Amanda asked looking at the Captain. "No no no, nothings wrong."Stanley replied. "Okay, excuse me."Amanda said slipping passed Chet and Marco with the bowl. Just then the Klaxon sounded, "Station 51,Brush fire at the Dunion Canyon,time out 10:15." "Station 51 KMG 365,"Captain Stanley reponded. ...... The guys finally retuned three hours later. As they scrambled in, they couldn't help but notice the smells coming from there own kitchen. "What is that smell?"Johnny asked climbing out of the squad. "I don't know, but it smells good."Roy replied also climbing out of the squad. When the guys walked into the kitchen they found Amanda at the sink peeling Potatos,Carrots and Onions. Chet walked up to the stove and peeked in the pot of apples and cinnamon."Can I have a taste?"Chet asked licking his lips. "Now Chet,you have to wait just like the rest."Amanda replied guiding Chet away from the stove. "You guys hungry, I made some Chicken Salad, it's in the fridge. And there's a fresh pot of coffee on the stove."Amanda said looking at the guys. All the guys sat down to enjoy the lunch she made. Except for Johnny, he was to busy watching Amanda roll out pie crust. The Klaxons sounded again. "KMG 365." Captain responded just before leaving again. ........ The guys finally arrived four hours later. "How's it going?"Stanley asked entering the room. "Oh, it's going very well, dinner's almost done."She answered looking at her watch. "Why don't you guys find something to do, while I finish up and set the table." She requested. "I do believe we've been kicked out of the kitchen."Chet said with a grin as he turned to go outside.as the rest followed As the guys walked out back, they couldn't help but notice the three apple pies sitting on the ledge."Man, would you look at these, how the hell?"Johnny asked. "I haven't even a clue." Roy replied. "Come on ,we better leave them alone."Stanley ordered. "Lets toss the soft ball till dinner is done." Stoker suggested. Amanda went out back to get the box that was left in the Jeep. As she walked past the guys she couldn't help but notice how cute Johnny was, down on one knee waiting to catch the ball that Chet was going to throw. "Need some help?"Johnny asked watching her walk pass them with the box in her hands. "No thank you I'm fine." She said She quickly made the gravy and sat the table.Okay, she thought standing back to look at her work. Tthen leaving the room to get the guys. "Dinners ready."She called out standing in the doorway. "Okay."They all replied while scrambling to the locker room to wash up . ...... They stood in the doorway of the kitchen, starring at the table in front of them. The table had a white lace table cloth with six matching place settings,. On the table there was a platter holding a Roast and Onions. On each side of the platter there was two bowls one with Potatos and one with Carrots. also on the table was a basket of bread and a gravy boat. In the center of the table was a single white candle, accented with mini red roses at the bottom. The guys finally took their seats at the table. They couldn't believe it was the same plain white table that was sitting there an hour ago. There wasn't much talk as each of them were enjoying each and every bite.Dinner was soon over and the guys made their way to the living area while Amanda cleaned the kitchen and took the box back to her Jeep."Are you guys ready for dessert?"Amanda asked with her arms full of the three pies. "Yeah I think so." The guys answered walking back to the table. ........... Can I do anything else for you guys?" Amanda asked while she finished cleaning the kitchen "Oh no you've done to much already."Captain said "Okay if your sure I'll be going then." Amanda said pulling her keys out of her purse "Well thanks so much for dinner, it was delicious."Captain said walking up to Amanda giving her a hug "Oh your very welcome I love to cook. There's just really no reason to cook for one. Anyway, I made two extra pies for the other shifts."Amanda said as she turned to leave "Oh I'm sure they'll love them."Stanley said "Here, I'll walk you out."Johnny offered taking her by the arm. ......... "So Amanda,Can I see you again?" Johnny asked walking up to her Jeep "What did you have in mind ?"Amanda asked looking up at Johnny. "Well, I have Tuesday and Wednedsay off , maybe we can get together and do something."Johnny offered. "No, I have to work and I have class both days,But I'm off Saturday." Amanda announced. "Oh yeah so am I, we can get together then."Johnny replied. "Okay."Amanda agreed writing her number on a piece of paper. As they looked in each others eyes, they fell closer together.
