THE EME BRANCH HERITAGE COLLECTION
GENERAL
1. The former RCEME Corps Museum (authorized RCEME Corps Instruction 5-0 18 Jan 1965) was located at the RCEME School, Barriefield Camp, Kingston, ON. On the disbandment of RCEME Corps in 1968, and the subsequent relocation of the RCEME School to CFB Borden as part of the former CFSAOE, the RCEME Corps collections moved on mass to the CFB Borden Base Museum. Funding for the maintenance of this collection is budgeted through the EME Branch Fund.
PURPOSE
2. The purpose of any museum or historical collection is to preserve, protect, display, and interpret a segment of our cultural heritage. No one institution can do everything, and it is important for all museums to share a common agenda  to ensure that all aspects of our history are covered in a balanced manner, and that untoward competition does not cripple a worthy endeavor. It is CF museum policy to encourage contact among all museums, whether operated by the CF or by civilian agencies, to promote the preservation of military artifacts and to cooperate for the good of all CF museum policy.

3. Under an EME Branch Fund initiative, the newly formed  Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Branch Heritage Collection is housed in the EME Branch Heritage Room at Canadian Forces School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Regimental Company. The EME Branch Fund Senate will administer a Heritage Project committee to focus on fundraising and other demands under the direct liaison of the EME Branch Adjutant, currently Capt (Ret'd) Richard Ratensperger. Sgt Dan Ferland and Sgt Tony Beresford are employed as Collection Custodians as a secondary duty.

VISION
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Branch Heritage Collection Vision Statement is: To serve as a training medium to teach EME History through the collection, preservation and display of Military artifacts, pictures, books, documents and equipment pertaining to the EME Branch and its predecessor corps.
4.  This project will not be a  War Museum,  and old Allied and enemy equipment and weapons will not be included unless they have a particular EME significance. The purpose of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Branch Heritage Collection can be summarized in these words:
REMEMBER: remembrance of those who served in EME Branch and its predecessors in Canada's armed forces, especially those who have paid the supreme sacrifice in war and peacekeeping operations.
PRESERVE: preservation of the story of Canada's Electrical and Mechanical Engineering military history and the physical artifacts that are part of that story.
EDUCATE: education of the Branch and public - particularly young Canadians - about the impact of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering on war and its historical influence on Canada's development. CFSEME, recognized as the Home Station of the EME Branch, is tasked with the guardianship of the EME Branch Heritage. It is only proper that an area be set aside for the continuing education of Canada's new Craftsmen and EME Officer candidates.
5.  The new Collection will serve as the principal node in a network of EME Collections across Canada, sharing its artefacts, archives and expertise with other museums. It will be accessible to students, researchers and other interested citizens across the country through electronic and other means, and it will help to bring Canada's Electrical and Mechanical Engineering military history into the classrooms.
