*** New York City - Winter 2000 ***
I'm not exactly a camera-happy person.  So I didn't take too many pictures of myself in NY.  Even from those, very few flattered me.  I hate to sound vain, but heck!  If I'm going to put a picture of myself up on my web page, I might as well look decent at least!  =P  So out of the few pictures that were taken of me, even fewer get posted on this site.  I'm not a very photogenic person - I've mentioned this before.  It's okay though.  I'll make do with what I've got.  What you see is what you get.
It snowed in New York while I was there.  It snowed and snowed and snowed...  Not really.  Just for one day and only for about 12 hours or so.  We had a foot of snow by the end of the day.  The city really did a spectacular job of plowing and cleaning it up for transportation purposes and also for the New Years eve celebration at Times Square.
The day of the snow fall, somebody had the "smart" idea to walk over to Central Park to make a snow man.  My sister does not live THAT far away from Central Park (about 7 blocks up, and 3 blocks east); but trudging in the snow, with the snow still falling, AND with the wind...  Needless to say, that will be something I will never do again if I can help it.  The two pictures to the left were taken at Central Park.  They are of Lena and I (me being the shorter one).  Yes, snow is pretty, but what a pain in the ass!  We started a snow man, but he never survived the construction.  While we were joining his middle and bottom torso, he fell apart - then my brother-in-law decided to kick what remained of him.  Oh well. The picture above was taken in the play area of Roz's (my oldest sis) apt compex.  FYI - In case you were curious, Lena is making a snow angel.  =)
What a wonderful place the MET is.  I can go there again, and again - and always find something new and exciting.  There were a few exhibitions and wings I hadn't explored before.  I really could spend a whole day there.  This picture was taken at the Egyptian exhibit.  It's called the "Temple of Dendur."  Quite a lovely place, it overlooks Central Park - and it's a nice spot to people watch.  I find it relaxing.  I also enjoy going to the statue garden, the Asian exhibit.  They are other parts of the museum where you can just sit and people watch.
I cruised by the usual exhibits.  Mostly European paintings from the Renaissance-Post Impressionism.  We also saw a neat exhibiton on armor (i.e. a knight in shining armor's, armor).  Pretty cool.
So my sister and I went to Times Square for New years eve.  I was supposed to do the whole Times Square thing back in 1999. but Roz flaked on me, so I spent it in a bar instead.  Not very fun for a person who doesn't really drink that much and hates the smell of smoke.  Lena and I went this year.  If I had known what it was going to be like, I probably wouldn't have gone.  We arrived at about 6-6:30PM ish.  That's about 5 hours until midnight.  It was not until 11PM that we heard any music or had any form of entertainment.  We just stood in the cold and observed drunken people making out and acting like complete fools.  Fun...
The white spot up there, where the little finger/hand thingy is pointing to... That's supposed to be the "Big Ball" that they drop.  I really should have just stayed home.  I would have been much warmer, more comfortable, and more entertained.  I'm not bitter about it... really.  Oh well.  At least I can say I have done it once.  And beleive you me, I will only do it once in my lifetime!
