North America
North America is home to many glaciers. Canada and the United States share the Rocky Mountains which are home to thousands of glaciers. I have chosen to examine three major and very different glacier locations in North America. They are the: Columbia Icefield (one of the largest glacier which can be found in Canada), Glacier National Park (a park completely created from glaciers covering it), and Malaspina Glacier (a glacier which is actually increasing in size today). The Columbia Icefield is located at the Alberta-British Columbia boarder. This Icefield is almost 325 square kilometers of glacier. Being such a large glacier, the affects of it melting can be felt world wide since its run off water is fed into the Pacific, and Artic Oceans. Glacier National Park is located mostly in Montana and reaches into part of British Columbia. The park covers just over one million square acres. The park still has over 50 glaciers but is unique since the whole area was once covered by glaciers not that long ago. The Malaspina Glacier can be found in Alaska. This glacier is formed from many mountain glaciers flowing together into a large valley. The Malaspina Glacier is so large that it can almost reach the Pacific  Ocean.
