MYTH AND MAGIC

MagicandMyth (abbr.. MM)

In the MagicandMyth Lands magic and mythical characters are allowed: vampires, shapeshifters, centaurs, immortals, elfins, dragons, Merpeople, pagans, witches, necromancers etc. We would like some mortals as well. No all powerful characters-all must have flaws and weaknesses.

Landscape is left up to you. Live in the mountains, the desert or the farm lands and even by the ocean. Scour the seas playing Pirates taking treasure and slaves. Set up your Kingdom and army, ravage the land or be a hero. Be a soldier and follow the good guy or the bad. Or settle into the simple life of merchant, farmer, trader or peasant. Open up a pub or business in the local village and settle in.

There ARE dragons within MM. A small community of dragons live in the mountain regions of MM, plus another group of them took refuge deep in Underground generations ago when the trouble began with the Drow and the Great Dragon that was turned by them.

Shamed by what had happened, the rest of the dragonkind deliberately went into hiding�fearful for their own survival. What makes them unique is the fact that they can speak a myriad of languages, besides draconic. AND they even spout poetry, plus keep the legends of old alive through each generation. A �teenager� can only be considered full grown when they can perfectly recite the old legends.

Somewhere along the way each race, either in the mountains or deep Underground, developed the ability to shapeshift into human form and back again. The recent group of teen dragons have been clamoring for permission to make contact with the outside world. To see if the humans/humanoids still remember them, and if bonding is still possible. There has been rumors reaching them of trouble with an ancient enemy, Queen Mab, and the fact that a few Drow actually did manage to get out of the prison but aren�t evil.

This intrigues even the ancients amongst them�how can a Drow be not evil? Something must be done, and soon, as the birth rate for dragon kind has been dropping�and the dragon shamans feel it�s because there are no humans to bond with. Maybe it�s time to return to the world?

Realms within MM

The choices are many. You may also visit some of the existing sub-realms created by our players, over the past few years or so

Silverymoon: The Haunted Town (created by former writer-Mikel)

They arose from the ashes, ghosts of those who had died by singing. They were all given the option to pass along to the other life, but many declined the offer. They did not want to see their town desecrated. They instead chose to remain in their town.

Protecting it from looters or others whom might vandalize it. It was agreed upon, any that came to destroy would be frightened away or frightened to death. Any who came with peace in their hearts, would know peace when they left. The shops would all be tended, and nothing would be allowed to be stolen from them. Any travelers may buy them though.

Underground:

A safe haven for all mystical creatures called the Underground. This is where all magical creatures can go when the land of mortals gets too dangerous. There are homes and villages and a diverse landscape here as well. All immortals welcome. Mortals allowed only if brought in by an immortal, or if they are found to be sympathetic towards the immortals. A few mortals have been found to be originally from the underground in a former life, and were just reborn in the wrong body.

Underdark:

A vast network of caverns buried even deeper than Underground. Several centuries ago the Drow were banished to the Underdark for their crimes against MM. Powerful wizards placed a magical seal on the gate to Underdark, to ensure the Drow would never wield their dark magics upon the innocent ever again.

After centuries of forced exile into the dark and sunless void of the caves, Drow wizards of the Iltani line unlocked the secret of the seal. Rather than spread this knowledge, they kept the secret within the house, and used the advantage gained thereby to raise House Iltani to its current level of power.

House Iltani's stronghold is in the city of Neptha, one of the largest in the Underdark network. The Matron of the house is Mepthys, a cruel and uncompromising woman who exacts complete control over her family and the other houses. After decades of scattered recon missions and fleeting lightning-raids against the surface, she commissioned a special unit known as the Shamash-Arishaka, which translates to Enemies of the Sun God, designed specifically for Aboveground raids.

Comprised only of House Iltani drow, the Shamash-Arishaka have been imminently successful in furthering the designs of the Matron, but have recently begun to strike bigger targets, leading to rumors in the Underdark that Matron Mepthys wants to expand her domain out of the Underdark and return a world she barely remembers, but truly loathes.

History also relates the wizards capturing and reluctantly killing off the Great Dragon. He had been turned to the darker side of life by the Drow, and had to be destroyed lest he kill off all who lived in MM. They were reluctant in destroying him, as the dragon was after all the original line of all dragons everywhere. But the risk of him turning his descendents was just far too dangerous to chance.

 

There are other worlds within MM, all it takes is your imagination to unlock the secrets of this realm.
