The Nexus was begun in the fall of 2003 by myself (Elwen) and a group of friends as a place where we could role play using the characters we loved. We'd looked at other sites, but found them to be either inflexible or too large for our liking. For several months the Nexus remained a small community of real-life friends, relavitively secluded from the public.
Then, in the summer of 2004 we moved our forum to Proboards as the result of technical difficulties with our old host. At about this time we also began to get new members at a regular pace. Gradually the membership began to grow, now including 48 members from two countries. Throughout these changes we have become friends and retained that atmosphere of a welcoming community from the Nexus' early days.
Now in our third year of role-play, we have created our own original galaxy to role-play in as well as retaining a free-style section where members can role play with whatever characters, plots and setting their hearts desire. The most active section of the forum remains the community section, where members are able to relax and get to know each other.
Our mission statement is this: to provide a place where creative fans of science fiction and fantasy can role play with other friendly and interested players using the characters they love. Everyone is welcome.
