The Festival  .  Saturday afternoon , 29 April
along Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 9th & 3rd Street

I'd began my documentation of the MMOW at Saturday's 12 noon Wedding at the Lincoln Memorial.  And then hurry over to Lafayette Park for the Medical Marijuana Rally and march from the White House to the Henry Bacon Ball Field.  Followed by the Youth Rally in Dupont Circle and then the Street Festival ...
Festival-Moon Dance . Saturday, 29 April
3rd Street & Pennsylvania Avenue at 11:30p

Always one to enjoy dance music and the dj scene and in an attempt to document an aspect of the gay culture I'd develop two photog themes, namely, 'Dancin' the Night Away' and 'Dancin' in the Streets'.  Therefore, on Saturday night, 29 April, I'd capture the last hour of the Queer Moon Ball focusing on fan dancers.
Rally after The March . Sunday afternoon , 30 April
on the National Mall betweeen Jefferson & Madison, NW

Assembling at the Monument Grounds The March would step off from 1600 Constitution Avenue, proceed east to 15th Street, veer right onto the National Mall and descend onto The Rally.  Which would commence once the front line including Troy Perry, Jim Graham and Denis Shepard would converge onto the stage.
The Festival . Sunday afternoon , 30 April
along Pennsylvania Avenue between 9th & 3rd Streets

I'd capture the crowd at The Rally on the National Mall and then meander over to the Festival walking back and forth, up and down, along the avenue snapping shots of folks and scenarios.  I'd photograph until the early evening when the festival would come to a close and then head to 17th Street.
5 years ago today,  in April 2000, I would document the Millennium March on Washington for Equality (MMOW) which to date repreents one of my best collection of photographs.  Anticipating a massive event that I simply could not pass up a few weeks before I would request a press pass.  At which time I'd  notify caterers that I would not be available for the weekend of 28 - 30 April.

On Friday, 28 April, I'd get a call from
Ellyn begging me to take a Sunday gig at Selma Plantation saying that Tom and I would be supervisors.  Though I always liked working with Tom, a handsome red headed straight white guy, and would seldom refuse Occasions reiterating that as a documentary photographer the MMOW would be important to my collection I'd remind Ellyn that, in recent years, I had expressed to all caterers that I would no longer accept positions at plantations such as Woodlawn, Selma or Mount Vernon.  Since when visiting such places I can feel the souls of those Negro slaves who've gone before me ...

If I were a Jew no one would expect me to cater weddings at
Aushwitz?.  Had I been white or a Jew my experiences in catering would've been just the opposite.
