The next morning Regan woke up to find the spot next to her on the blankets was empty. She rolled over and wiped the sleep out of her eyes. Then she recalled the memory of last night. A new, unknown feeling spread over her that she didnt know what to do with. She felt so released. She couldnt explain it, but for some reason she was finally happy.

Chase was in the kitchen, fully dressed and making breakfast for the two of them. He had woken up an hour before, taken a shower, and gotten dressed. He too was surprisingly pleased with what had happened the night before. It had left him feeling renewed. He felt maybe if she had allowed all of what had happened to happen, she could feel something for him more than just friendship. He knew Regan well enough to know that if she thought things were going the wrong way, she would stop it from happening. Thats why he was so hesitant with everything he did. He kept expecting her to stop him and tell him that it was going too fast and it wasnt right. So he was completely shocked when they were actually done and she still hadnt said anything about it not being right. In fact, halfway through it, he got the sneaking suspicion she was enjoying herself.

Regan rolled over and groped around for her clothes. When she found everything she needed, she quickly and quietly slipped it all on under the comfort and warmth of the blanket. Once she was finally dressed she got up to go find Chase.

Chase was just walking out of the kitchen at that time with the breakfast in his hands. While he was on his way to the living room, he almost bumped into Regan.

Oh hey! he greeted cheerfully.

Hey sweetie, she greeted back.

I made us breakfast, he said happily.

Great.

There was an uncomfortable silence for a second and then Chase set down the food and smiled meekly. Help yourself, I made it for you. I was hoping to serve it to you while you were still in bed.

A warm smile spread across her face. Youre sweet, she said, leaning over and kissing him.

He looked up at her and she knew then that he had felt it too. They both thought what happened last night was not anything bad, but it was like a fresh new beginning. It was like rolling around in the snow for hours and then coming in and taking a hot, steamy shower.

It was like coming home. For both of them.
