The History Of E.L.O.
 
1970 - The initial lineup of ELO is formed when Jeff Lynne agrees to join the Move. Roy Wood and Bev Bevan wish to maintain the Move while developing the Electric Light Orchestra

December 1971 - The Electric Light Orchestra's self titled debut album is released in the UK

February 1972 - Roy Wood records and releases his first solo single "When Grandma Plays The Banjo" b/w "Wake Up". Both tracks will appear on Roy's first solo album "Boulders" in June of 1973.

March 1972 - The Electric Light Orchestra's debut album is released in the US under the title "No Answer"

April 1972 - The Electric Light Orchestra plays their first live gig at the Greyhound , a pub in south London

May 1972 - The first single is released in the US from "No Answer". The single is "10538 Overture" b/w "Battle Of Marston Moor"

July 1972 - "10538 Overture" single is released in the UK with a different b-side, "Jumpin' Biz"

August 1972 - Roy Wood leaves the Electric Light Orchestra. The next day Roy hooks up with Rick Price, former Move bassist, and plans forming a new group. Naming the group Wizzard, they play in a major rock and roll festival at Wembley in London.

November 1972 - Roy Wood's Wizzard releases their first single "Ball Park Incident" b/w "The Carlsberg Special".

January 1973 - The Electric Light Orchestra release their second single "Roll Over Beethoven" b/w "Queen Of The Hours", in the UK

February 1973 - Electric Light Orchestra releases their second US single "Roll Over Beethoven" b/w "Queen Of The Hours". The Electric Light Orchestra release their second album, ELO II, in the US.

March 1973 - The ELO album ELO II is released in the UK.

April 1973 - Roy Wood's Wizzard releases their first album "Wizzard's Brew"

June 1973 - Roy Wood releases his first solo album "Boulders"

August 1973 - Roy Wood releases the single "Dear Elaine" b/w "Songs Of Praise" both tracks from the LP "Boulders".

October 1973 - "Showdown" b/w "In Old England Town", ELO's third single, released.

November 1973 - ELO's third album "On The Third Day" is released in the US.

December 1973 - ELO's third album "On The Third Day" is released in the UK.

February 1974 - ELO releases their fourth single "Ma-Ma-Belle" b/w "Daybreaker"

September 1974 - ELO's fourth album "Eldorado" is released in the US.

October 1974 - A UK-only album "Showdown" by ELO is released.

November 1974 - ELO's fourth album "Eldorado" released in the UK. "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" is released as ELO's 6th USA and 5th UK single. The b-side is "Illusions in G Major"

October 1975 - Roy Wood's Wizzard breaks up.
