ELO's first recorded Live effort was not made available in the UK or the US. It was a show that Jeff Lynne would rather forget, but for the fan, it shows how brightly ELO was shining even before it hit stride with their biggest hits.

This live concert was a hard to find item back in the 70's and was their only released concert while ELO was a functioning band (not counting the latest reunion of ELO in 2001). It was originally released only in countries where ELO had yet to visit.

Since there are now 5 officially released ELO live discs (Winterland '76, Wembley '78, and the 2 Beeb releases are the others), this one is by far the better of them all. It shows ELO without backing tapes and without choriography. You hear cellos hitting the stage floor. You hear what sounds like Jeff muffing words as he dodges a cello racing behind him during the encore 'Roll Over Beethoven'. What you hear is a band really having a good time!

This recording was recently remastered and released on CD. The sound is absolutely superb and liner notes don't miss a thing from the '70's LP release.

This concert was recorded on May 12, 1974, less than 6 months after the release of their third album, On The Third Day. On this particular concert the band performed three songs from their latest album, Daybreaker, Showdown and In The Hall Of The Mountain King. The audience was especially enthusiastic for this performance. As was the band.

Songs performed:

Daybreaker
Showdown
Daytripper
10538 Overture/Do Ya
Mik Kaminski Violin Solo
Orange Blossom Special
In The Hall Of The Mountain King
Great Balls Of Fire
Roll Over Beethoven
