Our rent was up on Jan 28th and we had been checking with the office for two weeks and there was no available sites for the month of February. We checked the bulletin board and called several numbers of leased sites that were available for sublet. We only got one reply and it was a bit overpriced but it did fill our need and we stayed for another month close to Aunt Peggy and the Villages. The site was on a corner and had a small planting area (see picture) that was overgrown with weeds. So I got to do a little gardening (weeding) and planted some pansys to brighten things up a little.

Of course it was just a couple of days later, on Ground Hogs Day, that we had a fitful night with wind, rain and THE TORNADO! We were nervously watching the TV and 3:00AM and wondering what we should do. We did hear a loud bang and the power went out. About the same time we heard what seemed like a long continuous thunder roll. That turned out to be the TORNADO passing about a mile away. We got out our battery operated TV's and continued watching the continuous reporting. Of course we would not know the whole story until we woke up the next morning. Twenty dead and hundreds of homes destroyed. This tornado made a path almost a hundred miles long in central Florida.

On February 5th, Johanne and I along with Aunt Peggy, her sister and husband joined a bus load from The Villages to the Tampa Seminole Hard Rock Casino. I brought a book and found a fairly comfortable seat in the Hotel lobby and got some reading done while the others threw money at the noisy, smoke infused machines. Of the $25.00 bus ride, we each got a $10.00 credit for the machines and another $10.00 credit towards a buffet. No one got rich on this trip.

Our visit with Aunt Peggy seems to be punctuated with fantastic deserts, all homemade and delicious, of course. We also enjoyed many games of cards, Mexican dominos and goint out to eat. With the exception of the tornados, we really enjoyed our stay in Central Florida and spending time with Aunt Peggy. Also our visit to my Brother Tom's and my Cousing Floyd's known as Sonny to the family.

Toward the end of our stay in Florida we traveled to the east coast, Merritt Island which is near the Kennedy Space Center to visit with Cousin Sonny (Floyd) and his wife Margie. He is now retired and recover- ing from multiple heart attacks. To our un- professional eyes he was looking good and relaxed. We sat and talked to Sonny while we
waited for Margie to come home from work. Later we went our and had a nice dinner at a local restaurant. I had rock shrimp for only the second time in my life, The first time was four years ago, the last time we visited with Sonny and Margie. Yum....... We wish the two of them well!
