They came from far and wide from San Francisco, North Carolina, Malaysia, Ireland, Scotland, Lancashire, Merseyside, Dorset .... to descend on the sleepy hamlet of Blacknest, the Jolly Farmer pub had never seen anything like this before ............ Who are these people? They descend from John and Annie Hunt from Lancashire - there were 9 in total, but sadly only 7 remain, but they all married and went on to have even MORE children - and most of these were here on this amazing weekend. The remaining 'Hunt' Children are: Kathleen, Marie, John, Joan, Jim, Anne and Nora - all were there except Nora. So with their spouses and children and grandchildren (no great-grandchildren yet!) and close friends - it was a gathering of such proportions that we had to have name tags! Whose was that great idea! Especially for Paul Elliott who can't remember anyone's name! This MAMMOUTH event was organised by Anne Gorman, one of the 'Hunt' Children. She and her husband Len opened their home and filled it with amazing food, drink and most of all, family and friends - it was true northern hospitality. Len organised some great days of golf and skittles in the Jolly Farmer pub. The Hunts don't need a reason or excuse to have a party, but THIS one was to celebrate some important birthday's in the year 2001. Anne was 60 on the day of the party, John was 70 a month later, Jim was 65, Kathleen was 75, and Robert, Joan's husband was 70! So here they all are - and we think they look pretty good for OAP's!
L-R: John, Anne, Robert (Zimmerman), Joan, Kathleen, Jim and Marie We have a great video of a lot of the two days, and hopefully I will be able to one day put some of it on here! Watch this space. Here are some of the people at the party, below is Marie (my mum) with 5 of her 6 children, only Ray wasn't there.
L-R: Elaine, Lorraine, Mum, Geoffrey, Deborah, Valerie There was a VERY special guest appearance by the 'Kaye Sisters' who sang their rendition of the 'Deadwood Stage' to their "Aunty Anne" who had featured so much in their lives when they were growing up. Elaine, Lorraine, Valerie and Deborah serenaded Anne SO well that there were 2 encores for anyone who had missed it! The words of the song are here: The
