Jinxed June

June left strong emotions,
Quivering in her wake;
Impossible to drown,
Or quell the lasting ache.

Life melted to insignificance,
As soon as she was gone;
Nothing left but a memory,
Emptiness where life shone.

The awful non-accidental truth realised,
Unbelieved by her best friend,
Changing lives forever,
As hearts are slow to mend.

The tragic unforgotten day,
A coffin in a grave,
Pouring rain and sudden sun,
A mother try'ng to be brave.

The following weeks and months are plagued,
By a stark and empty chair,
An empty place at ev'ry table,
A loss we have to bear
