          What is Faith?

Faith is:-
1. Trust.

2. Belief. (without proof)
                3. Religion.
                4. Promise.
                5. Loyalty.
Faith has both an active and a passive sense in the Bible,The former meaning relates to one`s loyalty to a person or fidelity to a promise; the latter, confidence in the word or assurance of another. In the OT (KJV) the word FAITH occurs only twice (Deut. 32:20; Hab. 2:4), and the word BELIEVE appears less thant thirty times. Faith is taught by the examples of the servants of God who commited there lives to Him in unwavering trust and obedience. OT faith is never mere assent to a set of doctrines or outward acceptance of the Law, but utter confidence in the faithfulness of God and a loving obedience to His will.

In the NT faith and believe occur almost 500 times. The NT makes the claim that the promised Messiah had come, and that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah. To believe on Him meant to become a Christian, and was pivotal in the experience of the individual. Jesus offered Himself as the object of faith, and made plain that faith in Him was necessary for eternal life.

The first Christians called themselves believers (Acts 2:44), and endeavored to persuade others to believe in Jesus (Acts 6:7; 28:24). In the epistles of Paul Faith is contrasted with works as a means of salvation (Rom. 3:20-22). Faith is trust in the person of Jesus, the truth of His teaching, and the redemptive work which He accomplished at Calvary. Faith may also refer to the body of truth which constitutes the whole of the Christian message in (Jude 3) We read all about it.
