Potted Daphne

I was waiting for class (Philosophy of Art) to start when I drew this. I wasn't really thinking about what I was going to draw, but I wanted to make something really elongated, and this is what happened. In Greek mythologhy, Daphne was a nymph that the god Apollo fell in love with. But she didn't love him, and she (literally) ran away from him. Apollo chased her, until they reached the river of Daphne's father. Daphne asked her father to turn her into a tree to escape from Apollo. So Daphne was turned into the laurel tree, and the laurel leaf became associated with Apollo (and thus the arts). I figured we've seen this story depicted enough (check out the statue by Gianlorenzo Bernini if you don't believe me), so I planted her in a pot. And in case you're wondering, those are the notes for that day's class next to her, and my art supply shopping list over her head.
