Innovators - Terrorism: a factor from farm to fork

n 1971, two Swedish scientists, Eva Engvall and Peter Perlman, invented a test that revolutionized the world around us. The test is widely used today, for detecting malaria in small villages in South America, home pregnancy testing to our fields and farms to detect disease and viruses.

Through the UC Davis diagnostic laboratory is one of many University laboratories that uses and promotes that simplicity of a conventional diagnostic test. As high end as ELISA sounds, many innovators such as BIO Rad promotes this product to many Jr. High and High School classrooms across the Unites States. This is one of the hands on tests that teenage can utilize through classroom experiments.

In the past, testing for these proteins and antigens was complex and time-consuming. But through the ELISA test it can be done in a matter of hours, sometimes minutes. The test is widely used today, for detecting Small pox in small villages in Africa to home pregnancy testing. The use of the ELISA test will propel into a safer agriculture industry.
