| I am Elf of course, but according to my witchy friends, I am also a goddess. I don't know about all that, but sometimes I do sometimes call myself a witch. |
| A pagan is generally someone who is not Christian and instead of believing in a strictly structuted religion a pagan usually chooses a more "primitive" form. Instead of The Bible pagans refer to folklore, legends and other mythologies, from around the globe, for life lessons and fath. Some of them believe in magic and cast spells. They can refer to themselves as Wiccan or Witches. There are both strong female and male roles in this religion both usually embracing their masculinity or feminity. Pagan with a capital "P" refers to a more structured and organized religion. |
Personally, I am not actually sure how spritual I am. The only force that I truly believe in is Karma. Bad things happen to go when you do deliberate bad acts. Although I call myself a witch, I would not say that I actively worship the Goddess or practice magic, but I have a definate tendency to atribute much of my good luck to the Goddess. My bestfriend, in highschool was a very devoted Wiccan. We often hosted pagan rituals in the woods. I was not really fully into it. I participated as I did in the 10 years I has spend attending a Christian church. I thought "this is interessting" and I enjoyed learning about spituality and religion in general. I think it is wonderfull to live in a time and place that we can learn of many religions and ways of being and choose what rings true to us. I find it hard to trust any one religion... I refuse to believe anything blindly. I also trust my iniate sense of morality and I refuse to believe that something is sinful just because some organised religious heads or some old document tells me it is. I think all organized religions end up having rules or practices that not everyone involved truly believes in. But just because a religion has some bad pratices doesn't not mean it is all bad. For instance I think Christianity has many good values and stories to teach. Mind you it is also full of hatred and questionable morality. How much do you know? Take this quick quiz and find out. I find some people only belong to a particular organization because they want to be "cool" or accepted or they are looking for an easy answer to all the unanswed questions in the universe. They are afraid of the unknown and want something to make them feel better. I really find it hard to know exactly where I stand as far as faith and spirtuality go. Sometimes I think I have all the answers...but then the drugs wear off. Although I do think drugs can be a wonderful way to explore sprituality. As far as wheather or not God(s)or goddesses exisit... well that is a whole nother can of worms. I can not believe there is one great enity that is seperate from us or independent. If there is something greater than us, then we are a part of it. If we have been "created" we also through our being continue to create what ever it is that we are a part of. |
